Hello,

This might sound like a dumb question, but can I use my calculator to input a mod-arg and get an answer in x+iy form without getting marked down in a test? I guess this relates to what situation I'm in with the question but I'm not sure when this method is reasonable.

Sure. Why not? If you have one of those calculators it guarantees you like 2-5 free marks every exam.

Although, you shouldn't abuse the calculator. Keep these strategies to within boundaries - if the conversion is really easy, then a calculator would be fine. But if you had to handle something like \( \frac{1-\sqrt3i}{\sqrt3+i}\) then I'd probably show a bit of working out.
