I think we're due for something pretty broad as the last few years have all been fairly specific! Although maybe that is their new trend? I was thinking Law Reform last year, and that ended up in the Options essays. Maybe it will be in Crime this year? ;D

Everyone in my school reckons it'll be on sentencing and punishment. I fucking hope it's not the criminal investigation process, but it probably won't be since last year's was on bail

If it is tbh I'd be happy because my trial question was sentencing and punishment.

my trial was sentencing and punishment too! So I'm prepared for that. But I doubt it will be on investigation process, it's been asked like, twice before (2014 and 2017 if i remember correctly? lol)

I do think there is a chance for law reform...or compliance and non compliance as these haven't popped up yet!

What do you think the chances of discretion being asked are? My school's trial questions was about discretion and its ability to acheive justice.

last discretion question was combined with sentencing, in 2013. could come up, but I doubt it.

They did last year for bail, and the English exams have been getting more specific the last few years - I wouldn't rule it out (though maybe not juries, there isn't a heap there). Maybe defences to murder? :)

because they didn't specify the 'criminal investigation process' with last year's question but rather gave a quote that let you explore the whole criminal justice system as long as you wrote about bail, could they specify criminal investigation process again?

if the extended response is about defences to murder or something specific like that i'm genuinely going to cry

i mean, they could, nothing is stopping them, but i don't think they will...it's been asked many times. I'll be happy if they do, at least it isn't a curve ball
