Anybody! Most will be current students at the university, but even if you're considering studying here, you're absolutely more than welcome to post! Providing different perspectives is incredibly valuable.

Hi! I'd like to hear some opinions and thoughts about doing a dual degree in engineering/ science (majoring in physics) - is it worth it??

I've been quite torn as my research seems to indicate that dual degrees aren't particularly worth it. However, the reason it's my first preference is because I had a liking for engineering (and also it for its employability) all throughout high school, and fell in love with physics in year 11. I've been back and forth about taking it as I realised that engineering and physics are relatively similar fields - most of the time taking dual degrees are recommended to those who have a passion in two different fields like science and humanities.

I'd love to hear inputs!

I was just wondering, does QUT offer a specialist mathematics bridging course, like they offer a methods bridging course?

I suspect you may find that doing a double degree is probably a bit much commitment, but I would look up engineering courses you are interested in and check your ability to take physics units (e.g. as electives) in them. The reason I would look this up for taking physics elective in engineering rather than vice versa is that:
1. you've had longer interest in engineering
2. afaik it's generally easier to transfer from eng to science than the other way around

Hey jinx_58,

Unfortunately, QUT only offers a Maths Methods bridging course (not a Specialist Maths bridging course). You can also complete bridging courses through other recognised providers (other Queensland unis) if you would like. Here are two links that I would recommend reading for further information:

Hello!

I plan to go to QUT next year (if I get in, lol).

I was just wondering, if anyone has done/doing an engineering degree. If so, could you please tell me about your experience?
I don't entirely know what engineering I wanna do, I just know that I wanna do engineering.

The aspect of Data Science seems cool, but idk what it is, so if anyone could explain, that would be great.

I'm lowkey lost on what course I should do, and if anyone could provide guidance, it would be greatly appreciated :)
