Title: Thoughts after mid yearlies
Post by: irene74 on May 05, 2018, 08:04:53 pm
Hi everyone :D

I'm new to ATAR notes, so hopefully this post ends up in the right place!

I got my mid course marks yesterday and they were pretty damn bad compared to how I usually go. I had my notes made really early but the problem was with learning them - because PDHPE was my last exam, and I ended up falling behind schedule for every other exam, I gave myself three days to learn two terms' worth of content. Never again.

Well, now that we got our HSC timetables... PDHPE will also be my last exam for the real deal too. AND I've got an exam the day before, AND on Wed/Thurs/Fri the week before that! I'm already stressing. Any tips on managing the content load? In Year 11 I've tried learning it super ahead, but I'd forget it by the time I had to do the exam, because I'd have done all my other exams that would sort of... erase pe out of my head :(

On another note, my biggest problem with PDHPE is including sporting examples in my notes. I actually have NO interest in sport outside of the course, so I've been relying on examples provided by my textbook, which doesn't always cover everything. Any tips on how I might tackle this problem?

And finally, now that mid yearlies are over, I was just wondering where everyone is up to in terms of their studying. Notes all completed for the cores? Made ahead for the entire year? I haven't polished my core 2 notes yet, and I'm pretty stressed because my assessments are rushing in already.

Thanks guys! I love this community :-*

Hi...

When I did PDHPE last year, I found using acronyms for the syllabus components really helpful! As long as you cover your content well in class/personal study time, acronyms are a good way of summarising the content, as well as triggering your brain to the relevant content you need to use during an exam...

As for your examples, it sounds like you might benefit from some research. :) Using online resources, such as ATAR Notes' very own PDHPE notes section, sports videos and commentaries, articles and other summary notes should be able to give you some extra ideas other than your textbook.

Hope this helps.  :)
