I am so jealous of you! Is the pharmacy course enjoyable? Lol
I saw that video on the website and it lookspretty fun...lol
Right now it's exam time and I have two more to go so there's no choice but to hate it, haha. I guess if you want to do it and have a better direction of where you're going you'll enjoy it much more. I don't know if I even want to be a pharmacist so I like to think I'm a bit of a waste of space in this course. I swear I've killed so many case study patients already in assignments and exams that it would probably be in he public's best interest I don't end up becoming one.
Fun.. hmm it's like high school in terms of seeing the same people every time. I find having our own campus better in terms of access to specific resources for studying (though we do invade other Monash campuses and Melbourne uni from time to time). It's not a bad course but I can't seem to talk it up much during exam season .
haha i know the feeling
dont you have to do clinicals for third year? or work in a pharmacy or something?
We have one official
placement in third year, which I guess is something to look forward to. I've already worked in a hospital pharmacy, and I thought that was quite a good experience to have before I decide on future plans. You definitely learn much more from going out into the actual workplace with pharmacists rather than be fed information from lectures. Talking to patients up in the wards was probably the most eye-opening thing, it just all became 'real' if you know what I mean. Some of them are on twelve or more different drugs, which makes the individualised management stuff they stress during uni all the more important.
Haha uni exams must be tough. I always thought uni life would be carefree but doesn't seem so much like it haha! What about pharmacy/commerce? Is the cut off higher than just pharmacy ? Is it worth doibg ?
I'm in the double degree with commerce and I'm not sure how it'll be useful yet. Honestly I put it down because I liked the idea of seeing a double degree written next to my name on the offers list. Recently I've developed an interest in health economics and we've actually done a topic titled 'pharmacoeconomics' so who knows ... I might end up using the commerce degree after all. I've met a graduate from this degree at the hospital I worked at and he seemed to have other roles within the pharmacy department. Something to do with paperwork - accounting for drug stock or budgeting or something like that (lol I'm sure it's a better role than how I'm describing it as). We don't start the commerce component till after we graduate from pharmacy. The usual path is pharm (4 years) -> pre-reg (1 year) -> commerce (2 years or part time 4 years). As for the cut off ... not too sure.
You can drop the commerce part anytime, so just put it down along with single degree pharmacy if you've got space.
VCE exams are about perfection, uni is more about the actual knowledge - no tricks, just heaps of content to sift through!
