Title: Wrong assessment mark?
Post by: mxrylyn on December 13, 2018, 05:45:56 am
Hello,

I was wondering if i could find out more about the assessment rank section as my marks seem be wrong.

For example,

My 94 i got in Advanced English says 76
My 89% in entension 1, which is 44/50 says 39/50
My 91% , which is a 45/50 in extension 2 English says 37/50
My internal chem mark allso decreased by 7%

Is this a minor scaling issue or is it possible my marks have been entered wrong?
If they are wrong, what can be done?

Hey there!

I might be wrong on this one (get Jamon on this, he's the true master :D) but I believe that's the moderated mark. Remember that your ranks and the range of your externals determines your assessment mark, so though say you got 44/50 for your internal, you might've gotten dragged down by your cohort to get a 39. I think it's just a matter of you performing well in internals then getting dragged down by your cohort as a whole in externals. Nothing can be done though. it's all over!

Like I said, might be wrong, but hope this helps anyway!

Hey! I should add that i am first on all of these except chem (2nd in chem)

Does that change anything?

P.s major creds for the quick reply!

Your assessment mark is scaled so your cohort might have performed badly in the HSC. If you're first though, and your external mark is higher than your internal mark, then most likely they made an error.

If you're really unsatisfied with the marks, your best bet would be to give NESA a call and see if you could get reassessed. NESA might have done a transcription error!

Good luck with ATAR day tomorrow! 😊

Is it possible for someone with a ranking lower than you to get a higher assessment (internal mark) mark than you??

^ Precisely this - Your external marks will be the indicator. If your external mark matches your internal mark, then unfortunately it is correct, your external performance just wasn't as high as your internal. If your HSC Exam Mark is higher but your internal mark is much lower, that is worth looking into I would think :)

I don't see how that would be possible, no :)
