Webinar Tutoring (+Lecture Notes!)

Hey everyone!!

So, I’ve got two really cool things to tell you, and I’ll start with the more interesting one!

Firstly, in March 2015 ATAR Notes is launching VCE Webinar Tutoring programs! Essentially, it’s live, interactive group tutoring over the Internet delivered by past students who you should be eager to learn from :).

We’re running webinar tutoring for English, Methods, Physics, Chemistry, Specialist, Biology, and Psychology, with each subject delivering a webinar every three weeks for a total of ten webinars throughout the year. Basically, each webinar program is structured to ensure your understanding and study progresses at the right rate throughout the year to remain on track for a stellar study score.

The best thing is, we can offer these webinars at $12 a head per webinar, so up to 80% cheaper than regular hourly tuition cost, and from the type of tutors that are booked out a year in advanced (e.g, Lauren, Thushan etc.)

Similar to the lectures and regular tutoring, places in webinars are limited, so we recommend opting in sooner rather than later. You can do so here: http://www.atarnotes.com/webinar-tutoring/

Secondly, and I can already hear the collective sigh of relief, we are making the notes from our Head Start lecture series available for the next six days.

We weren’t intending on selling notes outside of lectures themselves just because it gets logistically awkward (printing small quantities through the printer, having to delegate someone to shipping random quantities of notes every week); however, we drastically underestimated how in-demand they would be at the lectures, so many people missed out. There are also many people who weren’t able to make the lectures who want a set of notes, so this is your one opportunity to get them.

Notes will only be available to purchase until this Sunday and will not be sold after that point.

It needs no reiteration that the notes are amazing, written by equally amazing lecturers. They are currently available on the eStore, but reminder: they will only be available for the next six days! Link: http://www.atarnotes.com/?p=estore

Good luck everyone for your first full week of school and, more excitingly, your last first full week of school you’ll have to do… EVER!

Are the ATAR Notes team gods?
Do you guys just sit there, staring at us puny mortals, and then just randomly decide when to give us a little hand?
Because this is quite possibly the best deal I've ever seen. On anything. o.o

You legends!!!

If this were any other place, I'd ask for a preview of the notes...But needless to say I have good faith in the AN team :)
The GOAL: Attain a RAW study score of 40+ in all my subjects.

Courses I would like to study in order of preference include: Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Biomedicine or Bachelor of Science.

2014: Biology [42]
2015: English Language [??] | Chemistry [??] | Physics [??] | Mathematical Methods (CAS) [??] | Specialist Mathematics [??]

Better than being redirected to a random, obscure post in the English board like I was the first time :P !
But it's wonderful to have people so willing to share their valuable wisdom, time and money.  Such a revolution from everyone else's hoarding :D ... so thanks guys!

How many people would their be in one webinar session and how would it run? (chemistry / methods / specialist is what i am interested in) Is it teaching concepts or moreso answering questions for the wide majority?

Everyone should only be redirected once. Using multiple devices? I've been redirected once on my phone and once on my laptop.

Teaching content with time at the end allocated to answering questions, and people will get an opportunity to submit questions pre-webinar. It'll run with a chat function and everyone in the room gets live video feed from the presenter so they can run their tute session. We're yet to decide on the highest quality software so we're unsure on capacity. If there's far too much, we will create more session times.

I've got a friend interested in doing this for English, but she's worried that it won't be as useful as it could be since everybody will be doing different texts/contexts. Are you guys able to put her mind at ease at all? Will you be teaching methods that work regardless of text, or will she be disadvantaged if she's not doing a specific one?

Haven't written distinct lesson plans or anything yet, but it'll definitely be generalisable. In fact, 90% of the lesson will probably just be working on conceptual/skill-based understanding with a few examples or exercises to clarify points.
Hopefully (depending on the program software and availability) people will be able to ask questions before hand, so if your friend (or anyone) has text-specific concerns, I can address them broadly in the lesson, or just message them with more detailed advice where necessary.

I'm hoping to avoid delving into texts though, since there's no way I can devote equal time to every one, so if people are having trouble with the actual content, then a teacher/ tutor/ AN/ me-not-in-actual-lesson-time would be a better place to go. Atm there's going to be a much heavier focus on how to approach tasks and write better + whatever common concerns crop up :)

what can these webinars provide that vTextbook cannot? other than personal questions do they actually work ahead or just skim over what "you should be upto" and that sort of stuff which could be available on vT
