How to be a better teacher

Hello everyone :)

Been so long since I've went here (remember obsessing this website when I was a high school student, sadly forgot my login).
Anyways, I'm now a fresh teacher teaching general science to year 7's-10's and I want to know how to be a better teacher.
I'm passionate about science, however I don't show it a lot which makes me seem very boring to my class (this could partially be responsible to my childhood in which I was incredibly shy). I sometimes find it hard to teach off the cuff, and I still rely on notes and prompts to help me.

Now I handball it to you, what is it that your teachers do that makes you enjoy their class?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers everyone. Have a good evening!

In hs science the classes I was in always really appreciated links to real life and running experiments/activities where they got to do something.

This could be things like flame tests etc but also things like going outside (even just in the school yard) to actually look at rocks if teaching geology.

Good luck! :)
