To get good references- type in the question in google and click either google scholar or google books. Actual books with previews come online and you can read what you require. Saves going to the library...

Wolfram|Alpha (best search engine other than Google)
Paul's Online Maths Notes
Online Maths Learning
Connexions Maths Modules

These are for research and explanations. Hope it helps.

Sparknotes ( http://www.sparknotes.com/ ) is a great website with english and literature study guides.

Oh god no. NOT for literature. The interpretations are usually seriously skewed and the character analysis is shallow at best.
English maybe you can get away with it.

These websites have some really good journal articles for science-related stuff. Some articles are free with some needing permission but most authors gave me access for my research paper :)
