Hi guys,

Quick question - doing my honours year this year and was just wondering if we have any breaks during the year and if so, how long they were? My cousin in Sweden is getting married and I'm trying to figure out if I can go or not haha!

Thanks!

I think you should be able to find what you're looking for here: http://www.unimelb.edu.au/dates

I know this has been asked a million times, but here it goes, QM2** v Econometrics? Did ok in QM1 and heard 2 is a bit easier, but considering honours in Eco so may do Econometrics but haven't heard much about it.

Cheers

Hi guys,

I just did my language placement test for Chinese and the results told me that I'll be enrolled in level 5 - which is for 'Non background students with lower advanced knowledge of the language' according to the handbook. However I do come from a Chinese speaking background - it is actually my first language, and I did Chinese second language advanced for VCE as well. Therefore I'm a bit confused as to why the test placed me at level 5?

Hi guys, jaffy here  :)

So I am doing bachelor of science, and my first year/ level 1 subjects for both semesters 1 and 2 are based on chemistry, biology and physics (such as chemistry 1, biology of cells and organisms, physics 1: fundamentals) and for my breadth subjects includes principles of finance and introductory microeconomics. As there is clearly a lot of contact hours in total, and I go to uni via public transport, would I be better off purchasing a yearly tertiary myki pass or purchasing monthly myki concession passes?

Anyone know how long it takes for an advanced standing application to go through? Been a week and still haven't had an update on mine. Annoying because timetables open in a week for me

I don't recommend looking for easy breadths. Pick ones that interest you, it makes them a lot easier to do. Look into ones that may compliment your degree, they may provide you with an advantage when applying for a job. Also, you are paying for these subjects (maybe not now, but you will in the future), so make it worth it.

A lot of people pick up a language. It can be hard work but it does have a lot of advantages (helps with your writing skills, can be a good way to make friends outside of your normal cohort).

I personally really enjoyed Principles of Finance. It was a challenging subject but the workload wasn't tremendously difficult, especially because I was enjoying it, making it much easier to study for.

Anyone know what wam is needed for Dean's Honours List (BCom)? There's always a few elite ones on LinkedIn who've made it on it, but not too sure how elite they are in numerical terms. Something above 87 or?

Generally 86+ is sufficient, variance means that occasionally it can drop to as low as 84 (but rare)

Hi, jaffy here. I was wondering how many students are in each tutorial typically?
