For those who are unfamiliar with The Squiggle, you're in for quite a ride haha.
It's basically a visual representation of, mathematically, where each side sits. It's updated live as games are played. Really cool thing. You can also see your team's progress as you go through the rounds. On a basic level, each team's offence is graphed on the vertical axis, and defence on the horizontal axis. If you perform better than expected, or worse than expected, your squiggle is updated accordingly.
As it stands after round eight:

As you can see, only Richmond is really in the premiership zone at the moment. In fact, their defence is rated better than any premiership side listed on the Squiggle - pretty impressive. After them, there's a big clump including Geelong, Port, Sydney, GWS, West Coast, Hawthorn, North and Adelaide (and to a lesser extent, Melbourne). Squiggle really rates Richmond at the moment.

Painful reading as a Melbourne supporter. Missing finals by <1.0% again would be, well, quite upsetting haha.

I've had a good play around with the new Ladder Predictor.... at least on 10+ occasions to see whether it puts NM anywhere in the 8. Sadly disappointed.
It's very cool. I also like to see which sites tip who - they've really improved since you introduced me to Squiggle last year.

I forgot to mention that Squiggle now takes into account personnel on game day. So if Richmond is missing Dustin Martin, for example, Squiggle now notices that when it didn't prior.

I looked at their ladder predictor before and after our match v Geelong and we went from 4th to 8th just based on that one loss to Geelong down on their home turf...

Gold Coast and Bulldogs are our tough teams to beat. Always difficult against them both. Would not be surprised at all if the game is much closer than people think.

Really fascinating that Squiggle is backing Brisbane over Adelaide!
EDIT: Although these margins etc. will change after teams are named, such is the nature of the updated Squiggle.

Sad they don't have faith in North. I think we've been pretty competitive in all of our matches this year, unlike some teams.

Good weeks for North, Essendon, Hawthorn and, particularly, Port Adelaide. Look at the movement to the right of screen! The rain probably helped, but it will be interesting to see if they can maintain that position. Moving toward Sydney 2005 premiership territory.

Richmond all but guaranteed the minor premiership. Fremantle's finishing position is pretty set already. Still lots to play out in that 2-12 range, which is also reflected by this:
