Hey everyone,
With exams happening there has been an influx of new users (which is great!) so now might be an ideal time to remind everyone - new or otherwise - about how reporting works.
Why reporting existsWe have
forum rules to make atarnotes a brilliant place for as many people as we can, but sometimes these do get broken and the mod team steps in to address that. Unfortunately our mods do have a life outside of volunteering their time to this community and won't always see every post straight away - including ones that go against the forum rules; reporting allows you to notify us if you're concerned about content you see here so we can take whatever action is appropriate.
Reporting postsAt the bottom of each post on the right hand side there's writing that says "
report to moderator". If you click on this you can send a report about the post with a comment about why you are reporting it which will go to the mod team.
Please note that this is not an appropriate way to message a mod about something other than concerns over that post. If you would like to send a message to a moderator on another topic please use the messaging system. There's a list of moderators
here if you aren't sure who to contact.
If you would like to respond to the person making that post, please reply to the thread or send them a personal message rather than attempting to contact them through the reporting system.
However, I would rather you feel comfortable letting us know if something concerns you or breaks the forum rules rather than not reporting for fear of doing it wrong - mistakes happen sometimes and that's ok.
Reporting messagesYou can also report a message you have received if you are concerned about it or it breaks the forum rules. This works by pressing "
Report to Admin" in the bottom right corner of the message. Some users also feel more comfortable quoting a message and copy-pasting the quote to a moderator - this is also an option.
In general we would ask that you only share posts with moderators - it's important that community standards can be upheld across the whole community including in messages and it's also important to respect the privacy of messengers; don't go posting pms on the forums at large
if you have any questions about this please feel free to ask
