IA3 Research Investigation Rationale Help!

Hi everyone,

I am just beginning to write my essay, and I just starting my rationale. My claim is:

"The example of Schrodinger’s Cat shows that there is a fundamental flaw in our interpretation of Quantum Theory."

And my research question is:

"In relation to Schrodinger’s cat, is observing a superposition possible?"

In the example on the QCAA website in the rationale, the author talks about a few different aspects in the claim. I cannot seem to find more than one aspect, that one aspect being Schrodinger’s cat shows a fundamental flaw in quantum theory. The key terms in the claim are Schrodinger's cat, fundamental flaw and Interpretation of Quantum Theory. However, I seem to be attacking the aspects at the same angle and get a similar aspect to the one stated earlier.

Are there any more aspects I am not seeing? Am I thinking about this too hard? Can I just focus on the single aspect?

Thanks everyone! Hope everyone is staying safe!

Can you please describe your understanding/background in quantum mechanics?
Researching schrodinger’s means attacking about a century of physics orthodoxy.
Whats the flaw in schrodingers cat?
What even is schrodingers cat?
Can you link the example?
You know that schrodingers cat wasnt created by schrodinger right?
It was an opponent of schrodinger, and its mainly a pop culture phenomenon.

Note that in QCE physics they go more into quantum stuff than in VCE and are expected to do more research.

I assume that NotesNerd's claim would've been approved by their teacher as required for IA3.

@NotesNerd, sorry I didn't see this earlier!

For breaking down your claim the aspects I can quickly see are:
- What is Schrodinger's Cat?
- What is quantum theory?
- What is the interpretation which Schrodinger's Cat suggests?
- What is our interpretation of quantum theory (which Schrodinger's Cat suggests is flawed)?
- What does it mean for a flaw to be fundamental?

Ah thank you Bri for some examples! I knew I was overthinking it! I hope to finish the essay this weekend, so when I post the draft essay in the QCE Subjects + Help subforum, can I @ you? Cheers!

Yeah absolutely! I'll keep an eye out for it :)
