Funny story. I met this jaffy in O-week who was asking me what first year Physics was like and I said something along the lines of "There's this lecturer called Roger Rassool who tries too hard to be funny and doesn't teach you anything"

It turned out to be his son!

LOLOL what was the guy's response? I assume you just backed away slowly haha

i got higher than the clearly-in ATAR, met all the prereqs and attained a h1 average for sem 1, yet i didn't get a mid-year offer to commerce while someone who got a lower ATAR got in. is there a point in contacting the uni at all in case there are any mistakes?

Tell me, did you happen to fill in that 'Personal Information' form that was 'optional'?

I also averaged HD's while my friend averaged D's, but he beat me by 1 in ATAR (both under the clearly in by a bit) and he got in.

Are you going to try end of year transfer disafear?

Yea, of course. And it'll be easier too, as they don't look at my stupid ATAR

Nothing much, except the prestige (and all the extras that come with it), and that location is generally closer to most students  :P.
Don't bash me, UoM people. Just pointing out the facts. Would've gone to UoM as well, if not for the fact I live a 15 min walk to Monash.

UoM has more options I guess + better research. If I wanted to do Science, I'd do it at UoM for sure.

Monash, Melbourne - same really - just go to whichever is more convenient for you. I live 15 mins away from Monash by car, I'm not going to go to UoM just because it's a hassle to travel so far!

So what does UoM offer that monash doesn't?

  • 30 mins of travel as opposed to 80 mins
  • Lots of familiar faces
  • Close to the city - limitless fun
  • Beautiful place - studied at Giblin-Eunson library during SWOTVAC with friends, hot damn, wonderful place! ^-^

Lol, the first reason is probably the only valid one XD
But from what I've heard, Monash Sci seems to be easier. For now.

Melbourne is better for postgrad and research to my knowledge, but I don't really have anything specific to cite that or back it up, I've just heard it somewhere.

It probably depends on the area of research though, you can't just blanket it, Monash has its own perks too.
