So desperate for money they will put up a button in the ugly colour of grey, which shall be dead for another 21 days, before they will consider providing decent and relevant information.

Aaaargh, where?  Should have said hello.  Only, I am too awkward to function socially.

Also, did you leave your 9am lecture in the copland early today?

Okay so I wasn't really in the Copland, I came down the stairs from one side of 'Arts West' to wait for my 10am lecture in the Copland and then decided upon hearing the voice of Dawn Gleeson from afar that two hours was too long to last without caffeine, so then I went up the other set of stairs.  So I guess that could be perceived as me leaving my 9am lecture in the Copland.  WHY, WERE YOU THERE?

Leave Dawn out of this :p

Hi guys, I just have a few questions about getting into Melbourne's Doctor of Optometry course and some other random uni questions.

1. How difficult is it to maintain a H2A (75%) weighted average? I've been looking at the guaranteed entry scheme for the Melb OD and that and a 98.00 ATAR is all that is needed. What do you guys actually think about this guaranteed entry scheme?

2. Does a H2A (75%) mean that you are in the top 25% of the subject cohort?

3. Do you actually get paid for clinical training? (don't really care but it'll be a massive bonus! :P)

4. I do Monash's uni math course, does that mean I can skip the compulsory maths subject for biomed? Should I do it anyway to try get a higher GPA?

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the way uni works so any answers will be very helpful.
Thanks!

2) Uni is not like VCE, its not a competition, although there are some subjects that are graded on a curve

First year biomed is Copland 9am on Monday.

How long is a piece of string? Difficult of the subjects and the marks you get are extremely individual things, especially because subject difficulty varies. As a very general comment, a 75% isn't a mark you can get without working for it but at the same time it probably isn't going to require 4 hours a night of intense study (I'm equivocating but the moral is "achievable"). Guaranteed entry has been discussed a lot, have a read of various threads.

Not at all, but if I had to guess how many got >75 it would be (very roughly) around there

Not as far as I know.

You can skip calc1 but not experimental design. If your extension mark was good then don't worry about trying for a higher GPA

On 4: when you apply for credit, you'll just get 'Exempt' and no true mark.  Which means it's better not to do a fourth subject that semester, so that you can invest more time in your other subjects and therefore end up with a higher GPA than you would probably obtain should you do Calc 1.

Dreading the thought of going back to doing four subjects next semester.  How did I ever do four subjects per semester ever?
