Holiday Homework '19-'20

Hey guys! So I finished school on November 27th with a massive stack of holiday homework! I don't even know what I have to do because there's so much of it and I hadn't thought about it since. I haven't had any free time since school ended due to heaps of commitments, but I'm hoping that in the lead up to Christmas and the time between Christmas and mid-January I can get on top of all of the homework and maybe even start learning some content early and getting ahead.

Today I started by organising the chemistry theory handouts we were given in class and completing a small worksheet booklet that was a recap of everything we learnt in year 10. I still haven't started writing up any prac reports or looking through my prac book.'

Whenever I do some homework, I'll log it in here as a way to keep myself accountable. Hopefully I'll get around to making a long to-do list in the next couple of days!

Hey Laura! How are you going with your homework? Have you organised your to-do list? I also have a stack of homework and I have been procrastinating so hard but the last day or two I've been knuckling down and I think I'm getting back into my routine I've found it really helpful to work between the time I'd usually be at school (8am - 3:30pm) maybe that might help you?

Thanks for the replies guys! I originally had a couple of things that I wanted to get done before Christmas, but I spent three days straights (22nd-24th) at church with kids, helping them to prepare a nativity play. I got home late and exhausted and didn't feel like doing a thing. Then I had Christmas celebrations and got back from a couple more days at the beach with family today. Now I'm well and truly ready to try and knuckle down and get some work done.

This list is a draft, but I think that this is all I need to get done:
FOOD TECHNOLOGY:
- skim the textbook
- glance over the study design
- start making some u1 aos1 notes

METHODS:
- finish the first topic and begin studying for the first sat (there are many, many exercises full of questions to do; when i get around to methods i will expand on this)
- (also, finish copying out year 10 notes into a neat summary to add into my methods/spesh summary book)

SPESH:
- like methods, i really do not feel like touching my maths stuff yet, but i know that i have three sets of questions to finish off (i'll expand on this when i open my maths stuff

LITERATURE:
- read poetry booklet
- read pride and prejudice
- read "a doll's house"
- familiarise myself with macbeth

CHEMISTRY:
- make textbook summaries for chapter 1
- answer questions for chapter 1
- re-read class notes booklet for chapter 1
- watch edrolo and make notes on early topics
- start making notes on u1 aos1 based on the study design
- write prac report based on prac done in orientation

BIOLOGY:
- go through all of my u1/2 bio stuff, type out notes and put all of my handouts and worksheets away so that i have them if i want/need them
- read through textbook ch1 and make notes
- complete prac report from orientation
- watch edrolo and make notes
- finish off the holiday homework sheet (will expand on this when i go through and sort all of my orientation stuff)

I also need to make sure that I set up folders and exercise books for each of my subjects and try and keep things as neat as possible so that they stay neat throughout the year. I also have a summary book of what we did each lesson with homework and things in it so I want to make sure that it is fully updates from orientation and set it up so that it's easy to use next year.

I hope to have sorted through my school stuff from this year and set up folders and notebooks for all of my subjects for next year by 31/12/19. I will check in again then and let you know what I've done. I also want to start reading one of my literature texts.

Good going so far Laura!

I am in absolute full support of you making chapter notes at this time. In fact, I think getting ahead on that in this week and next is literally the best use of your time. One thing I wish I hadn't done in the holidays prior to starting Year 12 was actually finishing questions and tasks too early. I very much smashed through them, and it left me with a solid two or so weeks at the end of January where I did next to nothing, bar reading through some textbooks. In hindsight, I would've felt much better really running through those textbook questions (especially Methods, and in your case, Spesh also) in the last few weeks of the holidays. That way, you hit the ground running.

Find what works best for you, and keep up the good work! Don't forget, it's a marathon, not a sprint (cliche I know).

I finished the chem booklet, got halfway through the edrolo and still have one subtopic in the textbook to write notes on. I also had a chemistry documentary to watch and a five-page worksheet to do about it, which I did! I'm hoping to finish the rest of the chemistry homework from that list today, however I start work at 12:00 so I'm not sure how that will go!

Guess who had no motivation to update this thread because they didn't start any homework? This gal! Welp, I've started now. I have 100% finished the copius amounts of chemistry work. Also, as of this morning I have read/watched all of my literature texts for the semester. I also finished off the extra things I wanted to do for food tech last week! And I went to an AN lecture for 3/4 biology!! (Thanks Katherine and the AN team, it was AMAZING.) Go me, right? Hahaha, just wait and see the ginormous list of things I haven't started.

That means that the homework I still have to do is:
- methods stuff (heaps that I haven't started)
- spesh stuff (even more that I haven't started)
- and... biology
bio homework
- read through textbook ch2 and make notes
- ch2 questions
- complete prac report from orientation (about bubbles and membranes)
- watch edrolo and make notes
- summarise biomacromolecules on A3 worksheet
- revise cells and organelles for a week one test

I'm hoping to finish biology stuff by the end of Friday so that I have a week and a half to do my maths homework. My teachers are opening up some classrooms next week to run maths tute sessions so I might go along so that I'm motivated to do my homework and can get lots of help.

So, I haven't done any bio stuff at all, but I did start working on my methods stuff. Haven't touched spesh either. I'm spending Monday at home, so I want to finish most/all of the methods stuff by then. I'm working a couple of days this week, but on Tuesday and Friday when I'm not, I'll go into school to do some maths at the summer "maths club" (which is just a place to do homework). If I get my spesh stuff done there, then I can try and get my biology stuff done throughout the week. Please yell at me every day this week if I don't update this thread because I need the accountability.

BIOLOGY:
- read through textbook ch2 and make notes
- ch2 questions
- complete prac report from orientation (about bubbles and membranes)
- watch edrolo and make notes
- summarise biomacromolecules on A3 worksheet
- revise cells and organelles for a week one test

METHODS:
- orientation lesson four work
- 2.2
- 2.6
- 1.5
- 1.6
- 1.7
- 1.8
- make notes

SPECIALIST:
- 1.2
- 1.3
- 1.4
- 1.5
- make notes

Monday next week, luckily. ;D

BIOLOGY:
- read through textbook ch2 and make notes
- ch2 questions
- complete prac report from orientation (about bubbles and membranes)
- watch edrolo and make notes
- summarise biomacromolecules on A3 worksheet
- revise cells and organelles for a week one test

METHODS:
- orientation lesson four work
- 2.2
- 2.6
- 1.5
- 1.6
- 1.7

- 1.8
- make notes
- redo questions i got wrong

SPECIALIST:
- 1.2
- 1.3
- 1.4
- 1.5
- make notes

Gee, I feel like I was productive today. I'm going into school tomorrow for two hours to do some maths homework at "maths club" and I'm hoping to correct any mistakes I made and begin on the methods revision.

When I go in on Friday, I hope to finish off all of the spesh work.

I don't have any biology work due until Tuesday, but I'm hoping to work on it a tiny bit on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. And possibly Sunday evening too. Please remind me!

Really frustratingly, I've done a couple of hours more maths work, but haven't crossed anything off of my to-do list. I spent 45 minutes on 1.2 of my spesh textbook, and got most questions wrong. As for methods, I went in to school and did some work fixing up mistakes and setting up proofs, but haven't moved any further through. I think that because I only had to finish up to 1.5 for the holidays, I am going to leave my methods work there and focus on:
a) finishing and understanding the spesh stuff
b) getting some biology work done

BIOLOGY:
- read through textbook ch2 and make notes
- ch2 questions
- complete prac report from orientation (about bubbles and membranes)
- watch edrolo and make notes
- summarise biomacromolecules on A3 worksheet
- revise cells and organelles for a week one test

SPECIALIST:
- 1.2
- 1.3
- 1.4
- 1.5
- make notes
