Title: Nuclear Fission Mass Defect

In the process of nuclear fission, energy is released therefore mass is lost.

As for the mass defect, how exactly is that calculated?
I know it is equal to the mass before-mass after.
But does the mass before include the incident neutron that split the nucleus?
I understand that the mass afterwards includes the nuclides and neutrons.
