Do you doubt my truthfulness!!?? :P

Anyway, welcome to VCE, Class of 2019. It's good to have you on board here on AN, hope you all enjoy this year, and just make sure that you don't become too focused on school. Have fun, and do your best, and you will be a happy person! :P

Do you have any other Year 11 wisdom to share, Marvin? :)

Sure, listen up kids:
Try to bond with your class
This may sound really cliche, but if you don't have a good strong bond within the class, you will not find Year 12 as easy as you might. In Year 11 it is a good time to make sure you have a good relationship with your classmates, and in particular your teachers. It isn't that you try to butter them up to get better marks, but psychologically if you have a good relationship with your teacher then you are more likely to be happy with doing work for them and Year 11 is the time to do that.

Get ahead, and look ahead
Cliche again, but if you have checked out the Year 12 exams before you start Year 12 then you have some idea where you are headed, and this is really key, or else you can easily become discouraged, so I would advise you to ask your teachers for the previous year's final exams, so that you know which topics are more important for you to really focus on.

Have a hobby
Make sure that there is something other than school in your life, because otherwise you will find that you become totally focused on school, and this is not healthy. Some variety is good, having a hobby or a job or a sport, something to distract you from school. Just don't let it become too distracting ;P . A job or a sport are particularly good, and I personally have a job, so this is my advice.

Enjoy school, and find applications in real life
This is particularly important, since it is so easy to get into the 'cool' attitude of "oh, school's dumb, I really hate it, it's so boring". I understand this attitude because this was me for so much of last year it's not funny. Enjoy it. Find ways that the things you learn are applicable to life. And if you don't enjoy it, then enjoy it anyway. All it requires is effort. And if even that doesn't work, you're probably in the wrong subject. If you are unsure of what to do in school, in uni, whatever, never look back. That is one of the worst things you can do in your life, since once you start to ask the "what if" questions, you will start to become unsatisfied with where you are, what you are doing, and even eventually who you are. This is THE single most poisonous thing that your brain can do, so just don't look back. Ever. Follow your heart, and your feet will follow.

Good luck, Class of '19! ;D

Hello Fellow Yearmates of 2019  :P

2 weeks into the first term of Year 11, hows everyone feeling? I personally am enjoying the challenge and knowledge that is captured in every class. What subjects are you guys doing? Would love to know!

The only hassle im encompassed by is the fact that im doing two 3/4s this year (stress levels!!). Nevertheless, that would remove an abundant amount of workload of my shouldes in year 12, making it a winning situation ;)
2018: Business Management {42} ~ Further Mathematics {41}
2019: Chemistry (~40) - Mathematical Methods (~42) ~ English (40) ~ Physics (~38)
ATAR Goal: 97

Hi! I'm doing two 3/4s this year as well and am currently drowning in homework. But it will be great next year when we only have to do 4 subjects and have heaps of spare periods.

Thank you! Yeah it was a prolonged calculated decision I made after consulting with innumeral amount of peoples. I personally felt I could do well in both subjects and would be a great sacrifice to do 2 3/4s in year 11 and reap the benefits in year 12 :P

I have noticed that quite a lot of people on AtarNotes are interested in doing medicine actually.

Have you guys had any SACs yet? My first SAC, which is actually two SACs combined into one, is this week.

Adding on to Marvin's advice.

Whilst your 1/2s are important foundations for next year, I'd highly recommend that you put most of your time (maybe 60-80%?) into your 3/4's that you are doing this year. You'll actually learn a lot about the VCE just by really hamerring a 3/4(s) this year. Plus if you can manage to get a score you're really happy with this year, you only need to prioritise 3 more subjects next year to fill out your top 4.

Anyway, don't get too hung up thinking about this though, and enjoy your year :)

Enjoy this year while you can folks! Use the 3/4's you currently have as a learning opportunity to get an idea of what you'll need to do next year. Try and model good study habits/routines and work hard in them while you only have 1 or 2.

Remember, VCE / Year 12 (and parts before hand) is temporary pain for long term gain (hopefully entry into a uni course that you want and then ideally a career that will fulfil you emotionally and financially).

The ATAR means pretty much NOTHING after you get into your uni course (unless of course you need to use it for a mid-year transfer or as a marketing tool for tutoring).. Stress less, eat breakfast, stay healthy, do something else every once in a while that isn't school related, and hopefully this will all combine to make you succeed.
