hi Guys
I didn't get a placement offer for Nossal this year. Couple of school mates got in first round. Keen to go to JMSS. would you have any recommendation for preparation? I have done the Henderson and going to math tuition etc. any links or text book would be good.
thanks
hmm, the test for jmss this year was way easier than the selective school exam... basically, you don't need to overly prepare if you're a little over your school's average. i did the science icas test and it was the exact same as the science reasoning we got in the jmss test so try to sign up for it next year.
like the person above had said, just read over the year 9 maths textbook (if you're not familiar with the concepts) and a bit of the year 10 book if you can. there were pretty basic trig, surds, basic algebra, linear graphs and some quadratics in the test this year if i recall.
you can't really prepare for the essay writing (if you didn't know, the question usually revolves around problems in the world) unless you knew everything, but if you really wanted to, you could read the news and science reports. you could also go through the year 9 science textbook for the prac discussion but in my case, i winged it oops and it ended up being really short.
good luck for next year! if it means anything, i didn't prepare a lot except for the maths (most of my preparation was for the selective school exam in the year before) and i'm not what you would call smart and yet i still got into the interviews.
