Yeah however it gets omitted a lot. (At least for me. Haven't done many questions where absolute brackets play a significant role.)

An error ( but pretty rare): when you're filling in the multiple choice box on the seperate page and you stuff up one and then stuff up the whole sequence of answers. Its happened to me before, and its bloody annoying

Honestly? But usually crossing things out do the trick (in desperate situations).

Yes, it was in MAV 2007 exam 1, finding definite integral of logs from [-3 to -1] couldnt've been possible without doing ln|x| instead of ln(x).

Not if you cocked up the multiple choice.

Ah certainly a valid point.
My apologies. Didn't even cross my mind.

If a short answer is asking the derivative/anti deriv and the answer is a log, will they deduct marks if you express it as:

instead of ??

I assume so, yes. That is of course unless whatever inside cannot be negative due to the range of the inside being always greater than one. E.g. ln(x^2+1), or if its clearly stated elsewhere that x>0 for ln(x). In these cases, the modulus should be removed, but I doubt you'll lose marks if you don't since it doesn't really have any effect.

lol  sin(30) = .5 is correct, it's not wrong :P

- Confusing Normal Distributions. (eg. Pr(Z < 1) =! Pr(Z < -1) etc )

i know thats right... thats what i base triangles on. im just saying someone coulda say cos 30 = .5 by accident

ENTER does not determine how smart you are. so you can STFU now...thanks
also, PM ME if you have a problem. bring up a problem which CONCERNS ME only, not half of VN who also do the same action.
