Hey!
I haven't been to an interview ever before, but from what I have gathered reading other's experiences and what not, the key is to be yourself. It's really important not to try and 'act' friendly and very social, because it just doesn't seem natural. Speaking nice and clearly, answering questions with confidence and interacting with others is really important, however don't force anything. It's also great to show that you're keen, such as by asking questions, but again don't overdo it and don't force it. If you are put into groups, like many selective school interviews are like, try to lead the group. What I mean is to be confident, come up with ideas, but also willingly listen to others . This will really show that you possess leadership qualities and that's one of the main things that the interviewers will look for in a student. :)

They are pretty much the basics based on what I know, as I haven't been to an interview, ever. I really hope this helps you in some way, and I'm sure other users will be more than happy to help you out even further. :)

Good luck!

Galactic, you did it :PP
I'm not good with emotional advice, but I can give you some practice interview questions.

• Why do you want to go to this school?
• What do you hope to gain from this school?
• What do you want to be in the future?
• What's your greatest strength and when have you demonstrated it?
• What's your greatest weakness and how are you overcoming it?
• What qualities are needed in a successful person?
• What hobbies do you have?
• What extracurricular activities have you participated in?

Glhf with your interview (rip, still waiting on mine ;-;)

As far as I know, they don't send out more offers after the initial one, even if the students who do get accepted, decline the offer.

Don't take my word for granted because i'm a mhs student, not macrob and i did this a few years back.

That is not actually the case. :)

OP received an email for interview, and I'm pretty sure actual school offers come out early August. With people declining, offers can be made up until November. There are many people who decline offers, and thus spots free up. Even if your sister doesn't get accepted into Mac.Rob, she may get an offer from Suzanne Cory or Nossal. Be patient, up until the very end. :)

Good luck!

I think we are talking about the year 10 macrob entry and not the year 9. And as someone who has gone through that process, i'm fairly sure what I said is true.

Hey there! Congrats on getting an interview!
I myself have done the interview for late entry and got in. My advice is to really know what you're passionate about so you can elaborate properly on it when they ask. Make sure you know yourself really well so you don't get caught up when they question you. Also, try to suss out the school website and read the school newsletters to get a better insight on the school values, co-curricular etc. They look for people who themselves are really passionate about being a MacRobbian.
Stay calm and wishing you the best of luck!

You're so smart and lucky. I tried out for Nossal year 11 entry and they said I was in the top 5. So I waited and waited and waited. Come November and my parents personally went to the school to ask and were told that there weren't any spots available, so no one had been accepted. I personally felt scammed, but I'm glad you had a good experience with this. Good luck!

My tip is for you is to be honest, but to choose your words carefully and think your answers through before you say it. If you need time to do this, a good way to buy time would be to repeat the question as a starting phrase, which will buy you another few seconds to formulate a good response to the question, while also making sure that you don't go off topic.

This is an example of what NOT to say:
"Why do you want to go to this school?"
"Because it's convenient for me."

That answer could've been the truth, but it wasn't getting at the point of the question. Always question why those questions are being asked; what are they trying to find out about you through those questions? If you understand the motivation behind their questioning, I'm sure you'll ace the interview.
