The VCE Journey Journal / Re: * ༊*·˚ VCE Journey - Class of ’24 !
« Last post by sodacat_ on July 21, 2022, 10:48:08 am »
Ohhh that's fun! I'm from the class of '24 as well, I understand the pressure of choosing your subjects this early on! I'm a Leo myself and I honestly forgot which one of the 16 personalities I am.

Remember that in Year 11 you can switch out of subjects if you don't end up liking them! (as long as you do it early ofc)

Good luck for the meeting (and I look forward to hearing more)!

Any key topics for maths and NR? Also in the RC were their such questions asking like what type of poem was this, and stuff like that?

Selective Schools Admissions Tests / Re: JMSS 2023 Entry Experience

Also, how did you know when you didn't pass the Year 10 Interview? Did they hint to you or give feedback suggesting you didn't make it?
They sent an email to the email address you used to register, which in this case is my dad's email. You'll get an email regardless if you pass or not, for both parts of the application: the tests and the interview.

Hey!!  :)
How did ur Interview go?
Do you know when JMSS will notify applicants if they made it or not?
Thanks,
Scilover.
Hi! No, I do not know when exactly they'll let applicants know if they pass or not, but I'm expecting about a month or so, which means the results can be expected mid-august.

The University Journey Journal / Re: ThunderDragon's Journey to Med
« Last post by ThunderDragon on July 20, 2022, 10:23:49 pm »
Hey everyone

I know it's been quite a while since I've updated my journal but a lot of things have happened since my last entry and it's been quite a few hectic months.

In terms of uni, I am fairly happy with my uni results from Semester 1 as I got:

73 Distinction in DEV2011: Early Developmental Biology
90 High Distinction in PHY2011: Neuroscience
98 High Distinction in UMH1102: Mental Health in Context

This boosts my WAM up slightly to a 84.2 and my GPA drops a tiny bit to a 3.75/4. My WAM is so close to what is needed for Postgraduate Medicine at Monash so I'm fairly happy and confident I will be able to cross that line in the next 2 semesters. For next semester I will be doing:

DEV2022: Human Anatomy
PHY2032: Endocrine Physiology
PHY2042: Body Systems Physiology
PHA2022: Pharmacology

I am pretty excited about these units and while the workload will definitely be a lot more compared to last semester, the content does seem a lot more interesting.

In terms of other news, I just finished my UCAT today (3rd attempt aha) after months of preparation. I am glad it finally paid of and I ended up with:

VR: 670
DM: 750
QR: 880
AR: 750
Total: 3050 (Roughly 94th Percentile based on last year's scores)

I am fairly happy with these scores as I have a chance at UNSW undergraduate med and am 10 above the cut-off for Joint Medical Program (Newcastle/New England) so I am praying that the cut offs don't rise more than 10. Gonna spend the next few days resting before uni starts again. I will see you in my next update.

VCE Music Industry / Concerns for VCE Music
« Last post by Yogithebear on July 20, 2022, 08:42:43 pm »
Hey! I'm a year 9 student and about to go to year 10 next year. I am planning to take early access to VCE Music Performance Units 1 and 2 in year 10 and Units 3 and 4 in year 11. I have been playing the piano (only piano) for a while and currently I have been doing ANZCA until piano grade 3. However, this year I decided to try AMEB this year for grade 4.
Before going into year 10, are there any tips or suggestions you guys can give me that might benefit me? Anything such as things I can practice, what I need to know etc. If you have any tips for during my time doing VCE Music Performance in year 10, that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Yogi
