GA1, GA2, GA3

Sup guys. Don’t know if I posted in the right spot,
Anyways;
I found out that for biology GA1, GA2 are Unit 3 SAC average and Unit 4 SAC average respectively.
If I’m rank 1 the whole year and rank 1 for each unit SACs, does that mean I have a GA of A+ for GA1 and GA2?
Also, I heard from some that sac average doesn’t matter (teacher is a harsh marker so I have low sac average but am rank 1), but rank matters instead, is this true?

I heard that it also depends a lot on the strength of the cohort and how well everyone does on the final exam, which consolidates the scaled SAC score. This is so that if you have harder SACs, then they get scaled up, and if a school does really easy SACs, they could potentially get scaled down etc. But yeh, if you're rank 1, have a good cohort, then your SAC scores should all be A+

if you're rank 1, your GA1 & GA2 marks are reflective of the highest exam score in your cohort.

So if you, or someone else in your cohort (studying that subject at a year 12 level at your school) gets A+ on the exam, you'll get A+ for GA 1&2

Eg. You are rank 1 and get A+ on the exam. The next best exam score is B+
You get A+ for all 3 GAs

Eg2. You are rank one and get B on the exam. Someone in your cohort gets an A
You get A for GA1 & GA2. You get B for your exam score.

The first example happened with me,  and my SAC scores wouldn't have been high enough to be A+ if it was based on the percentage marks achieved in tests

Cohort strength matters if you aren't rank one,  but if you rank 1 and get the highest exam scores you alone determine your score

So if you're not Rank 1.... hard to get a high SS?

I see. Very informative response thank you very much.
So highest exam score determines my GA1 and GA2 and I am solely responsible for my GA3. Also, the rank matters u said, not the marks. Gotcha.
Thanks a lot man

It's not necessarily harder - it depends on how well the people above you do on the exam. In theory your SAC rank should be reflected in how well you do on the exam so it shouldn't make it any harder.

People tend to see it as harder because the lower your rank, the worse you are doing on SACs which means you're probably not doing well enough to get a high score - but if you go to a high performing school where lots of people get high scores then you can get a high score with a lower rank.

depends on the school, for some schools a low rank would be >50 others it could be rank 2.
