Okay FAM I was NOT held accountable for anything last week because the lectures required all of my creativity/energy/all-the-caffeine-in-ultimo.
So I couldn't write anything last week to be published this week. However, some FUN AND AWESOME thing happened.
I'm just living my usual twitter life, retweeting the injustices of the world and occasionally making commentary on things. Then ****** (name of publication to be revealed later - but they are pretty big and serious, like a daily 90k viewers globally) reached into my DMs and was like, hey, we see you're really into some social issues and you write, would you like to contribute a piece for us? We'd love to have your thoughts on our site.
So naturally I'm like:
!! ! ! ! ! !!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
So we have emailed back and forth and I'm putting some ideas together now for drafts. I have previously written but not published an article about education in Syria with the impact of terrorism, but they require articles with a minimum of 1400 words and this sits at 1000. So I'd need to boost my word count and do some more research. But I'm also taking the opportunity to look at other story ideas too.
While this is all happening I've also pitched a new article to Junkee, and applied to be on the contributor list for Cover-More travel insurance's travel blog ahead of my travels to India!! and Nepal!! next month.
So I guess lots of "setting up" is happening right now but it feels good and I'll be able to get moving on these projects soon!
As a side thing - I've started a new job, two days a week for three months, at the Institute for Economics and Peace. I am their Digital Marketing Assistant, so I get to look at lots of their content and reports and find stories and messages to share. So that's really great because it helps me with story grabs and ideas for writing too.
Happy, but full, days
