Stylistic features are features of a text relating to all subsystems except for discourse; so you could talk about pauses and ellipsis but you wouldn't talk about passing the floor and things that relate to discourse - this is what our teacher told us, correct me if I'm wrong

Let's unpack what's written in the Study Design!

(Page 19 of the VCE English Language Study Design 2016-2022)

Students examine the stylistic features of formal and informal language in both spoken and written modes:

- The grammatical

- Discourse structure of language

For example: how they use the stylistic feature e.g. a certain determiner for Lexicology in order to support a particular coherence

- The choice and meanings of words within texts

- How words are combined to convey a message

- The purpose in conveying a message

- The particular context in which a message is conveyed

This can be applied to all subsystems! See: https://libguides.mhs.vic.edu.au/c.php?g=174606&p=4145170

Students learn how to describe the interrelationship between words, sentences and text as a means of exploring how texts construct message and meaning.
(i.e. this is the purpose of analysing for stylistic features and how we should apply what we have learnt).
