Editing update

I honestly thought editing a film that I wrote and directed would be easy to edit but I was so so wrong. It's actually the opposite. It's so hard. I can't get past the raw footage. I can't stop cringing at my dialogue and directions. I keep questioning the shots taken.

I've made the decision to step down from editor and passing on the role to my second AC/clapper girl who just happens to be one of the best editors in my year. I've learnt that it's better off to get someone else to edit your own film since they'll have a fresh set of eyes when viewing the raw footage and they have their own interpretation that might be different and better than yours!

Very glad that I could take off one film on my list of films to edit. Now I got like two more things to edit and potentially 3 extra films to edit in the future. I realised that I very much prefer editing short, promo type like videos which makes sense because I would like to work in advertising one day.

Some film updates

* Passed on the harddrive to my editor and am hoping for a rough cut by the end of next week! Hoping for the final cut in the week after so it can be passed onto the colourist, sound designer and music composer.
* This film I’m re-editing for a friend is being delayed because she hasn’t been responding to my messages even though she’s online which is lowkey getting on my nerves.
* Editing a promo video but director hasn’t given us a brief so I’m very lost.
* Decided to produce my friend’s dark comedy film. I’m the only female on the crew but am hoping to see some change in the future. This dark comedy is very interesting and makes a good comment on humanity’s need for approval, hence my decision to produce. But also the fact that the director was actually my soundie/boom op for my film so I’m just returning the favour by helping him out for his film.

Film school starts again in exactly a month and I am just so excited to get back into it ;D

Literally nothing more emotionally draining and frustrating than producing a film and not being able to find a house to film in!

Production literally starts in less than two weeks and we don't have a location yet oml :)))

If there's one thing I took out of this, it's that blackboards are way more aesthetic than whiteboards. And more charming.

Great work!

So I got myself a camera stabiliser/gimbal called DJI Ronin-S. It’s apparently one of the best ones on the market.

I’m hoping this device will help me encourage to make more videos and hopefully get me some experience as well. I feel though as a freelancer, videographers are high in demand so I thought this device would be a good investment.

However, I am having trouble setting up the damn thing! I have a gig this Wednesday and I’m gonna try my best to work this thing out before then because it’s a waste of my money if I don’t end up using this thing. Also kinda promised my client I would have a stabiliser with me on site lol.

Also I finally go back to film school which is exciting. Four months is too long of a break.

Edit: Nearly forgot to mention how crazy heavy the gimbal is!

Some film updates lol

Film I'm producing:
Wrapped up on the film on Sunday (was a three day shoot) and we're now in post-production. Currently on the lookout for potential film festivals to enter the film into and how to market it.

Film I wrote/directed:
Finally got the first draft from my editor and send some notes over. It's weird seeing your film actually cut together. Still not a fan of directing up to this day. I realise that I have no passion for it at all.

Freelance work:
Wrapped up on a gig today that I mentioned in my previous post. I basically had to film the Autumn/Winter lookbook for a company and I now have to edit it in post-production which includes finding royalty free music and colour grading. It's my first paid gig so there's a lot of pressure on me and how the final product will look like. I'm a bit annoyed that my camera stabiliser decided to have a breakdown on set and it just wouldn't stop shaking. Also I accidentally dropped my camera stabiliser and my camera on hard concrete on set. Good thing nothing major broke and only a couple of scratches were formed.

Film I'm editing:
Director hasn't gotten back to me about my eighth draft but I hope she does because I just want to make her vision and dream a reality.

I'm producing a mini dating show where the director and I will be match making people in our cohort and sending them off to cute lil dates.

I'm a keen bean. This is all my reality dating shows coming to life- but on a budget ;)

DOGUE Lookbook 2019

Super happy that the lookbook video I filmed and edited is finally out! It's my first proper filming gig so I'm proud of how well it turned out :)

Interview with Jamon

Special thanks to the one and only jamonwindeyer for letting me interview him for my assignment. I submitted the raw footage for my cinematography assignment. Took things further by editing this in post (as part of my editing assignment and also for fun of course) and adding overlay on top (credits to Tutesmart for the overlay footage). This was a super fun little project to do and I'm very proud of how it turned out!

Finished producing a reality dating show for my Semester 2 project! We are looking to finalising edit for the episodes next month. We hope to have our show released next year. Fingers crossed it gets approved :)

What's Your Flava? 2020 (Trailer)

Spent the whole of second semester last year working on this cooking and dating show 'What's Your Flava?' We made the second season and it's going to be released on Youtube in a week's time! Here's a link to the trailer.

I am extremely grateful that something I have spent countless hours working on is being released to the public. I enjoyed my time as a Series Producer and I have learnt so many lessons during my second semester of my second year. I even spent half of my summer holidays fixing up the episodes and creating social media content.

Out of all the projects I've worked, this is the one I am the most proud of.

Will post a link to the episodes here when they are released :)

What's Your Flava? 2020
link

Cooking & dating show (reality tv)

Six bisexuals enter the Flava house on the quest for love.
They make food, small talk and—if they're brave enough—a move.

Feel like I'm gonna repeat myself when I talk about what I did and what I learnt on this show so here's a link to my Sem 2 review from last year hehehe. All I have to say that I still cannot believe that the show is actually online!! It was just like yesterday when we were getting interviewed for our role on the show. I was one of the Series Producers on the show!

Super keen for everyone to give the show a watch. The link for the entire series is right here.

Here's the first ep if you wanna give it a watch here!

They are ~5-6 minute X 5 episodes so easy to binge when you've got ~35 minutes to spare. Hope you guys like it!  ;D ;D
