Hey guys,

Will this structure work for AOS discovery essay;
2 paragraphs for prescribed text (The Tempest) and
1 paragraph for related text (Invictus)

Hey guys,

1 paragraph for related text (Invictus)

I am not doing advanced but both do the common paper for discovery, according to my understanding at least or what I have been taught you need to write roughly the same amount of quantity for BOTH core and related... I was suggested to do 1 core, 1 related and 1 intertwined paragraph...
I'll leave the rest to Jamon, Elyse or Emily to clarify/explain further

Heya. You can push it to 60-40 so i've been told. So you could probably do the two - 1 paragraphs only if the related text paragraph was bigger than the other two?? Hope this helps!!

Heyy!!

Same as clovvy with the standard deal but....

it is recommended that you have a 50:50 ratio of prescribed to related... if you have the AN book the recommendation from the state rankers is:

Emily's integrated essay plan

Paragraph 1&2
TQE - Prescribed
TQE - Related
TQE - Prescribed
TQE - Related

Paragraph 3
Text one - technique + analysis
Text two - technique + analysis
contrary perspectives using other text - technique, analysis
come to middle ground - technique analysis for both texts

This is just a suggestion... if it doesn't work and if you are struggling with the related you can try:
- Paragraph 1 (The Tempest)
- Paragraph 2 (The Tempest + Invictus)
- Paragraph 3 (The Tempest  + Invictus)

Else, as mentioned, your suggested structure will be fine given that the related paragraph is larger and the ratio of related:prescribed is not less that 40:60.
So close to the end!!!!
MY SCHEDULE

19th - English P2
25th - Mathematics
29th - Modern History
30th - Mathematics extension one
2nd - Business Studies
7th - Economics
9th - D&T
10th - DONE!!!
14th - Turn 18!!
15th - green P's!

Hey thanks for the reply guys, I was asking because the Tempest has many aspect of discovery I can discuss (e.g. 1 paragraph about Prospero and 1 Paragraph about Miranda) but with Invictus (as it is a short poem) I can't create 2 arguments, If I do 2 paragraph's it'll probably end up being 1 quote 1 technique.

Hey, I figured my question fit in here.
For mod C I am doing Auden's poetry for people and politics, which means I have to write about 2 poems. I wanted to do one paragraph on each poem and then one longer paragraph for my related text. Would this be an ok way of structuring my essay? And do you think I should set it out prescribed, prescribed, related, or prescribed, related, prescribed, or does it not matter?
Thanks  :)
