VCE Methods 1/2 and 3/4

Last year during subject selections, I was told I could only do 1 VCE subject in year 10/, and I ended up choosing  VCE Physics.
I am in year 10 currently.
I am well ahead in Maths, I have actually taught myself year 12 specialist, and I could do 70-80% of it, with only 3 to 4 weeks of learning, (except for probability as I haven't done it yet.)

I was wondering if it would be worth going into Methods 3/4 in year 11 (not having done 1/2), instead of doing 1/2 then 3/4.
There is a chance (not sure how great of a chance), that I would be able to get into year 11 methods semester 2 of this year.

Is it worth doing it, or is it a risk not doing 1/2?

I don't recommend it. I don't even recommend a year 10 to do early methods at all, period.
The content in unit 3/4 builds upon knowledge of unit 1/2. Unit 1/2 content is quite fast-paced, and you skipping unit 1 isn't a good idea as you learn about the fundamentals (like graphing, algebra etc.)
Of course, up to you, but I'd really look at your maths ability and talk to your school counsellor (however, judging by what you wrote, i recon you can do it)

Hey,

If I were you, I personally would wait until year 11 to do Methods. My reasoning for this is because regardless if you're a gun at maths, units 1/2 cover topics that are not taught in year 10. Of course, you could teach yourself unit 1, but considering  you're doing physics already, focus on that this year. I really wanted to do 2 1/2's last year and I'm so grateful I didn't because I got to focus my time on my 3/4 (methods). Also, doing 1/2 methods next year will give you time to prioritise physics next year, but also time to grasp the concepts of methods properly! Don't feel pressured to do two 3/4's because I was and I then realised that I didn't need that stress in year 11. I know a lot of people who did manage more than 1, but in saying that, if you're comfortable with it, then do it.
