The HSC Rollercoaster

Hello!

Firstly, I have no idea how long this is gonna last or how committed to this I'll end up being but I'll just give it a shot and see where it goes from here!!

So, my name is Emily and like everyone else I am a current struggling Year 12 student. However, I seem to be so keen at the idea of going to uni so that's all that's getting me through this year so far.

Some fun facts about me:
- I watch way too many tv shows (Suits hands down my favourite though)
- I got a little taste of fame this year and by that I mean, Ross Gittins retweeted me 3 times (Economics kids you know who you are)
- I have an obsession of getting my initials personalised on all my stuff like my phone case, wallet, laptop case, etc

This year I am currently studying:
- Advanced English
- General Mathematics 2
- Business Studies
- Legal Studies
- Economics
- Studies of Religion 1

As you can see, I do 'The Three' as we like to call it at my school. However, business studies is by far my favourite!

The ultimate goal is to get into my dream uni and dream course. What is that you may ask? It is Commerce/Law at UNSW.

Hopefully I actually remember to post on here! See you soon ;D

Hey, emilyygeorgexx.

Glad to have ya on board - excited to see your progress throughout Year 12! :)

That's a nice mix of subjects you're doing - how are you handling the content so far?

Ooh, what a tough double degree - are you interested in specialising in a law field? :)

Good luck with the HSC - hope it all goes well for the rest of the year!

Content is definitely a lot! However, I don't mind it though as I am very interested in all the subjects and genuinely don't know what other subjects I would have chosen.

Yes, a very hard double degree but it is the dream... I hope to specialise in corporate law or acquisitions and mergers!

Hello,

My first update since my introduction post!

It's already half way through the first week of holidays and I feel like I haven't achieved as much progress as I would have liked to. However, I am weary that this is good for me as the last 5 weeks of Term 1 were super intense for me. This break is nice but also feels weird at the same time because I feel like I should be doing something!

So far I've finished all my legal and eco notes that I needed to have completed which is good. Tomorrow, I'm going to UNSW library for the day so hopefully I'll get some business essays and SOR notes done so then hopefully I'll have the satisfaction of crossing it off my long list of stuff I need to do.

I feel like I am trying to do everything I can so I don't have to do English. It's probably my least favourite subject (along with SOR) and it just seems so tedious because I need to redo my Discovery creative as it didn't go as planned in the exam and on top of that I need to write and submit my Mod C essay before next Wednesday.

On another note, I am currently stress searching for formal dresses because ITS NEXT TERM!! I know next term is gonna be my busiest term so if I don't do it now then I never will. It's actually so exhausting clicking through all these pages to find a dress I like and yet I still have had no luck.

Anyways, thats all for now. See you soon!

Same here!! It is literally the worst trying to redo creatives - I feel like I can't cull anything because I am too invested in it.

How do you find juggling AOS and the modules? Do you tend to favour one over the other?

Omg, I am the total opposite! Creative writing is definitely my weakness so it's literally so difficult just to bring myself to sit down and open my computer yet alone trying to actually write it.

I actually really didn't like AOS, mainly because of the text we did - "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin. I just finished Module C which was the Art of Travel and like it wasn't amazing but the text is so hard to formulate an essay on so that's putting me off a bit. Now I am doing Module A which is Richard III and Looking for Richard. I watched Looking for Richard yesterday and I am so utterly confused, just can't wrap my head around it!

Ooh I just did Richard/Looking for Richard for Mod A!
It was much more enjoyable than I expected. Some of Pacino's mannerisms just cracked me up!

I pretty much felt the same way at first, but if you approach it conceptually then I'm sure 'the big picture' will click soon.  ;D

Heard you were doing Al Pacino's Looking for Richard and Richard III for Mod A. We started that at the beginning of last term and to be honest it's so much better that the AOS. I think at the start of term 1 our teacher will want to see our completed essay drafts because I started mine like three weeks ago and haven't looked at it since.

I agree that Looking for Richard is a weird film but it is easy to relate to Richard III. Good luck! Are you doing to Modules out of order? Because I think we are doing them AOS, A, B and C. But anyway. Good luck!

Yes hopefully it will make more sense when I actually get back to school and start looking at it in more depth. My teacher just set as part of our holiday homework to watch Looking for Richard and understand the basic plot of Richard III.

Yeah, we are doing the modules out of order. I have no idea why but our order goes AOS, C, A, B.

Hello everyone!

The second week of holidays has just begun and I honestly still don't know how to feel. I've almost completed all the stuff I've wanted to do except all this English work, and it is seriously just lurking around. I need to get my act together though because my Mod C essay is due on Wednesday and at this point all I've written is the introduction and 1 paragraph.

I've also been really tired lately and I have no idea why. I seem to be taking naps throughout the day and then waking up like oh. However, I did start watching Brooklyn Nine Nine like 2 days ago and I am actually obsessed. I just want to keep watching!

Anyways, tomorrow I'm going to the Business Studies and Economics workshop at UTS so I hope it's good and I'll get to learn a few things outside the syllabus.

Also, I need to start preparing myself for parent teacher interviews next week because I honestly don't know how this is going to go down at this point. I hope my rankings are okay, and at this point I think I am ranking 1st in 3/6 of my subjects which I am pretty proud of. I'm still waiting on some results to come in though!

Well, this wasn't a very long update and I'll probably come back here when school starts.

See you then!

Sleep is good! Especially in holidays .- If your body is telling you to rest then rest. Make sure you are getting good sleep at night, both in quality and quantity ;D

Helloooo!

Ah second week back and I am slowly getting back into it. I'm currently in a period of not having as much work to do as I completed lots of it in the holidays so now I can take it easy for a bit before I get hit back with all these exams. In saying that, I finally got all my marks back from my exams and I am actually very happy. However, I would have liked the legal mark to be a little higher but regardless I think all the study paid off. This is what I have achieved so far:
* English (Oral) - 100%
* General Maths - 95%
* Business Studies - 98%
* Economics - 94%
* Legal Studies - 88%
* SOR 1 - 90%

Anyways, not much to update for now! See you soon :)
