Hey guys,
I want to study engineering (chemical) next year.
I'm wondering which university is better (especially in terms of getting a job after I finish studying)
What are the pros and cons of each?
Thanks in advance! :):D

QUEUE MELBOURNE VS MONASH DEBATE
Why even?

Generally, you can't go wrong with Melbourne, Monash or RMIT in engineering. If you want to work overseas then perhaps go with the Melbourne model since Melbourne have a solid reputation - the masters pathway may look more appealing too. Although, Monash are up there now too.
I'm not sure which are the best in terms of engineering disciplines, but from what I've read in terms of industry relevance and experience RMIT is the best then Monash, then Melbourne. Melbourne appear to be the most theoretical, followed by Monash then RMIT.
Honestly, I don't think it really matters. Get decent grades and some experience and you should be fine.

Hey,
Thanks for replying!

Can you by any chance also explain the reason behind the vast difference in the clearly-in ATAR scores?
Chemical Engineering - RMIT: 75.15
Vs.
Engineering - Monash: 91.4

Thanks again in advance :)

Clearly-ins are determined by demand, so if a lot of students want to go into say Monash Eng, the clearly in of that course goes up. There's probably a heap of different reasons why people value Monash's Engineering course over RMIT's such as transport, reputation, how the course is structured (focuses on theory or practice more), royal patronage ( ;) ) etc. But you need to remember that with engineering it's all standardised by Engineers Australia. So it's the same content, different package :)

You can study Engineering at Melbourne Uni, but you go through the Bachelor of Science. It's also a bit longer, but you get a 'higher' accreditation, so you don't get a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) you get a Masters of Engineering (Chemical)

Oh I see. And is it hard for eng to get a job? Because i have been hearing people saying that it is hard. Some also say that doing double degree will increase the possibility of getting employed.
If I do biomed at UoM, i can only continue masters in biomed eng?
thanks :)
