How's Yr 12 been going, alanihale?
Oh wow I forgot about this! Whoops.
Yr 12, as of right now is extremely stressful but that's obviously expected. English is in 3 days and I'm not really sure if I care about it anymore. I'll probably just wing it and hope for the best. I've barely done any practice exams for any of my subjects and I don't think I'll get many done before the exams :(.
I really want to do well in Biology (I got rank 1 somehow) but judging by the 2 practice exams I've done, I'd be lucky to be scraping 35s. i feel really bad about this just because everyone in my class is working super hard and I really don't want to tank on the exam and let everyone else's study score take a beating. I'll definitely need to do whatever I can in the last 5-ish days.

Specialist maths is if I put it lightly,  not looking so good. I'm genuinely screwed. I really should've paid attention in class and not mucked about because I seriously don't know anything and holy sweet lord dynamics will be the absolute death of me. I just don't get it. At all.

I'm, dare I say, excited for chem? I really enjoyed the course this year and I'm doing alright on the practice exams (I'm aiming for a 35 for reference). I'm pretty good at MCQ but I'm absolutely horrific at SA. Redox equations make sense in my head but then put them out on paper and it looks like I had too many cruisers and ate at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Needless to say, it's not pretty.

And finally, the only subject I feel alright with, Methods! I really like methods and I'm hoping for above a 40. I just need to make sure I don't make any super dumb mistakes with differentiation and antidif because under pressure the mind can do miraculous things :).

I'm super excited to get exams over and done with and I can't wait to finally be FREE!! I also can't wait to go to the gym because I haven't done that in a while and someone is piling on the pounds via. stress eating.

And for the non-academic stuff:
I graduated Thursday and after looking at the photos I've realised I probably shouldn't have done my makeup myself. It was a super fun time and the food was AMAZING. I ended up getting home at like 12:00am though because I live an hour and a half away (in country victoria) so I was incredibly tired for muck-up day on Friday.
Speaking of muck-up day, it was so much fun and some of the costumes were crisp. We had a group of girls dress up as Mario kart characters with tricycles and all. It was a sight to see.

I'm glad this was kinda like a break day before we all got bogged down in exams, and we're all ready to conquer VCAA and take them on.

Overall, Year 12 has been an amazing year and I'm going to remember it (hopefully) for the rest of my years. I've had some amazing friendships and met some amazing people and made some incredible memories that I truly cherish. I'm so glad that this year has turned out the way it has (apart from the UCAT but that was entirely on me) and I hope that as I enter into Uni and whatever I choose to do in the future, life's just as good as it has been to me.

Plans for next year: (if I don't update before then)
  • Resit the UCAT and apply non-standard
  • Start a degree in either pharmacy and biomed (pharmacy has really warmed up to me from chem)*
  • Get a job
  • Save enough money to fly to Norway
  • GET MY L'S
  • Get fit and go to the gym more often
  • Dye my hair
*Note: I also really like the idea of teaching high school students. My teachers have been amazing and they've influenced me so much and I'd absolutely love to be that person for someone else

Thanks Snow Leopard for reminding me about this!

Sounds like you've certainly been busy! Muck up day would have been amazing, as I'm sure graduation would have been too! Is it exciting to come to the end of your schooling, or does it not feel finished yet because of the looming exams?

  • Save enough money to fly to Norway
Why Norway? ;D

I chose spesh because of scaling and I completely forgot the part where you need to get a good SS for it to really do something nice for the atar :((

I'm definitely excited but I'm also a tad upset. School's been absolutely amazing and the past however many years are unforgettable! Whilst I don't feel 'free' as of right now (methods, spesh and chem exam to go!!), my mind is currently in holiday mode because I've done zero amounts of revision or practise exams for any of my subjects (bar spesh) and I currently have no motivation which is absolutely fantastic! ahaha I really should get off atarnotes and actually start doing something :)

Why Norway? ;D
I was lucky enough to travel to Norway as a kid with my family (when we lived in Europe so it was nowhere near as expensive), and I absolutely loved it! My whole fascination with the place fizzled out after a while but it was re-ignited when I discovered my love for hiking and the outdoors. Most of the best hiking spots (with breathtaking views) are in Norway and I put it on my bucket list as a place I was going to go trekking and hiking. (Also I love Norway for skam aka the best tv series to possibly exist).
