Hoping to hear people share their experience with undergrad engineering at Monash vs postgrad engineering at Melbourne.
I am in year 11 this year and for uni I'm planning to study a Bachelor of Design with the aim of working in the mechanical engineering field after. Would it be better if I did that along with Bachelor of Engineering (honours) at Monash, or 3 years of design by itself plus 2 years of Master of Engineering at Melbourne after?
Right now the benefits I see of each are
Melbourne
- Undegrad and postgrad degree in 5 years (at Monash it's two undergrad degrees in 5 years)
- Better uni for design (according to other ppl)
- Has guaranteed entry through VTAC if I get above a 96 ATAR
- I am already doing UMEP at Melbourne so I will have already done 25 credit points by the time I am a student there.
Monash
- Better uni for engineering (according to other ppl)
- The design course is specifically made for engineering, whereas design at Melbourne is very broad.
- Uni is closer to my house.
I'm mainly interested in the comparison between the engineering faculty at both universities but if anybody has experience with design I'd love to hear it too. Thanks.
