In this thread, ask your questions you want answered! We're a clever bunch; I'm sure someone will know. ;)

Why are pumpkins affiliated with Halloween? And what is Halloween even celebrating?

How do they install cranes? They literally appear out of nowhere overnight.
Do they use another crane to lift it up? If so, how does that crane get installed?

Would like a response from Jamon, the engineer. :D

Also known as All Hallows' Eve, it has (Western) Christian roots - the eve before All Hallows'/Saints' Day, it's the start of Allhallowtide/Hallowtide or something like that which is a three day period (All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Day, All Souls' Day) in the Christian year dedicated to remebering the dead, etc. I think the Christians stole it from the Celts - it was their harvest festival when they celebrated the dead and all that, so I guess it was originally a pagan tradition, that was adapted into Christianity as Christianity spread, and now it's changed again as it's evolved from its religious roots.

I'm guessing maybe the pumpkins were abundant after the harvest and they were like "hey, lets use our leftover pumpkins to carve spooky faces to represent supernatural beings and the dead/to keep evil spirits away". Not too sure on that one, and not 100% sure that the info I've just provided is accurate haha.

We got taught in anatomy that the pia mater is inseparable from the spinal cord. If it's inseparable, how then, did they discover that it exists?

I don’t know the answer to this, but some reasonable guesses:

Put it under a microscope and you can see it’s a distinct layer.
Embryology...perhaps the cord forms and grows into it, or the other way around.

If I remember correctly they are actually separable; it’s just that you can’t really do it by hand because the pia is effectively one cell thick.

on youtube it would be for money, because you can earn a fair bit from ad revenue and if you get a strong fan base you can monetize other things like merchandise etc. on facebook though I really dont know. theyve got 54 million views on that video and they definitely arent earning direct money through adsense or anything. theyre probably doing it for the flow on effect of people viewing their videos then following them on insta/following their fb page then doing paid promotions or something. or of course they could just be doing it for the social media fame

How do people decide what sort of coffee they like? I mean, the first time you go to a coffee shop how do you know what sort you want?

Thanks for your response, K888! Great post - enjoyed it.

I just got what my brother got, and stuck with that for a while. And then I sort of branched out over time. Honestly, I don't have a huge preference; any combination of full-cream, skinny, soy, almond and cappuccino, latte, flat white, chai latte is fine by me haha.

For what it's worth, my most common order is probably a skinny flat white if taking away, and a skinny cappuccino if having there.

Trial and error, and using reasonable guesses based on how much sugar/milk (if any) you would use at home, factoring in any dietary requirements
