Hiya, its me again.. this time a question with quotes........ sorry its a dumb one HAHA

If I had part of a quote that's say, from the beginning of a poem, and then one that was further to the end, but then I wanted to link those two lines because I believe they have a strong meaning/connection... is that ok/accepted?

Thanks

If you can explain it properly, definitely yes! Talk about 'recurring themes' etc. and you'll probably get some approval.

Hey, CamoD!

Just adding to what was raised above by The Cat in the Hat  :) You could definitely use quotes from different parts of your text. If you want to discuss them within a single piece of analysis, you should quote them separately and then use expressions such as "...contrasting with...", "...has further significance when examined with..." or "...is strengthened by..." to show that you are making an active connection between them. I've used Sylvia Plath's poem Morning Song as an example to demonstrate how you could do this  :D

Sample Analysis
The contrast in aural imageries between the "bald cry" and "handful of notes", from the first and final stanzas of the poem respectively, illustrate how Plath's daughter has gained the power of expression and continued to enrich the poet's life as she navigates through her own relationship with language through motherhood.

By doing it like this, it will ensure that the connection you wish to convey between them is effectively achieved. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any follow up questions!

Thank you both angewina_naguen and The Cat in the Hat! I have now added it to my analysis, so I hope that my teacher will like it!
