commerce/IT or commerce/cs

so just as the title says, which would be better career wise for someone who is just as intrigued in business as well as IT and programming. I do know computer science is seen as the harder and more maths heavy degree, which employers like, however I've heard that IT is generally better to pair with commerce as it is more analytical and more business orientated. I'm just torn
Would I be at a disadvantage if I did comm/IT over someone doing comm/cs when looking for internships and jobs?

hey hope i'm not too late!! but it depends on what kind of jobs you're looking for, e.g. software developer or business analyst. If you're wanting to go into a role that has business and IT aspects then comm/IT will be fine. If you're wanting to be a software engineer/developer, I've heard that employers generally have a preference for CS degrees but that's not to say that people with IT degrees can't attain these roles as well because you definitely can!! If you have a strong resume and personal coding projects you can show, that's just as important as what degree you study as it shows that you can take initiative and apply what you've learnt.

Also, the majors/specialisations in IT and CS are pretty different so it might be worthwhile to have a further look into these. I believe there's 5 majors available for IT and 2 specialisations for CS. Even between the IT majors, there is not too much overlap so looking into these might help you decide which degree is for you. For example, if you want to focus on coding in an IT degree, you could major in software development or if you wanted to study how business and IT integrate, you could major in business information systems.

Hope this helps!!
