Hi,

I know this is a stupid question but if i'm dropping a subject in year 12 should I worry about passing the year 11 exam for that subject?

(VCE)

Thanks

hi !

dw it's not a stupid question :)

even if you're dropping a subject in yr 12 i would say that it's still important that you pass the yr 11 exam for it bc depending on your school, they might not let you continue to yr 12 vce (my school does something along the lines of this),,,, but personally i would use the opportunity to try out different study techniques (while studying for said subject) and seeing if they would be of benefit to me :^)

tl;dr, just aim to pass

Individual school's requirements may vary, as illuminae said. For VCAA, you need to pass 16 units - which generally means 4 year 11 subjects. As long as you have at least 4 other year 11 subjects that you're going to pass, then it definitely won't matter if you fail the exam (won't matter to VCAA at least). It's fairly likely your school will give you an S anyway even if you fail the exam, so long as you've passed your SACs throughout the year.

You may as well give it your best shot even if it doesn't really matter - just treat it as a practice for your exams that do matter.
