My second year units are so daunting many of my fitness are doing double degrees with law to ease the work load I've gone all out.

Maybe I  shouldn't  have dropped Commerce...

I'm more stressed going into second year. There is a lot of content from first year that I have forgotten that will probably come back and require me to relearn it (although it will be much easier to).

I'm still looking forward to going back, as I absolutely love learning but I know that this year is going to be a lot more content heavy and the concepts taught will be a lot more complicated. I've also seen what study techniques work or don't work for me, which means that I don't need to worry as much about whether I am studying correctly or not.

Hoping to make some more friends (I did make a few last year) by putting myself out there more, instead of shying away from introducing myself. Maybe I'll even meet that special person.

Nice! How are you planning to put yourself out there?

Not entirely sure yet. I'll probably take the approach that my friends used. A simple quick introduction and handshake during a tutorial or practical seems to work fine for them. It's funny that I'm able to put myself out there when it comes to making connections (researchers, industry reps etc) but I always get nervous with people my own age.

Yeah, I'm much the same in that regard.

Something I've found useful is just asking a bunch of questions. "What are you studying?" "Oh, sweet - do you enjoy that?" "Do you want to pursue that after uni, too?" "What made you interested in that career?"

And so on. One thing leads to another, and bam - conversation. I find it much easier than talking about myself haha.

I don't talk to anyone at uni haha even though I've been told I'm a good leader and I take charge at uni group projects Im just generally reserved and find I have nothing to say to people which is of interest.

It's a bit awkward but I also find it awkward asking questions like what movies do you like or music you listen to. It's rather dull, ah well  not something I'm too bothered by.

Yeah, fair - there's definitely no obligation to be social at uni.

It certainly helps if you can make a friend who is very good at socialising. I made one and he has introduced me to plenty of people.

Hmm I usually make friends who are similar to myself. I have extrovert friends but they're not at Monash.

It's okay like I'm not fussed I socialise  with friends in my spare time time and have time to myself at uni for study and concentrating, I'm working so much better now than I was at year 12 because of the current situation I'm in.

Ready for the next one!
It's good to be going into next semester with a clearer idea of everything, knowing what to expect & more awareness of resources :)

A lot less nervous then last semester, now that I know where everything is, some people who are in my classes and whats expected of us for assessments.  Still excited for my new units (especially as educational psychology is meant to be a lot more interesting then social perspectives)!  ;D

Probably what I can expect from assessments & how it works in the every-week sense.   eg. knowing that I'll most likely have a lab report due every week for chemistry & how long that'll take me to write up.
