Outlook not good
(1/1)

Essentially halfway into the school year and my projected goal isn't really panning out how I expected.. So far my SACs have ranged from very high to average markings but I had planned on getting a 96+ ATAR in order to get into Monash undergrad med. My careers councillor said that acing my SACs to come would probably land me an ~80.. is this true? If so I'll most likely have to do a Sci or Biomed course first, which doesn't guarantee a position in med. I'm feeling kinda hopeless right now, what should I do? Medicine and doctoring is my dream job but i don't know if i'll make it.

Don't give up!! Consider your career councillor's opinion a challenge. If he/she says you can't do it, prove him/her otherwise! In saying that, I am aware that good marks don't come from just believing you can do it, but putting in a lot of hard work. Take some time to plan your strategy- figure out exactly what marks you'll need to get that ATAR (use online calculators)! Once you know what marks you need to be getting, it should be much easier to work towards that goal. By breaking up a big goal into smaller, more achievable goals, you will increase your motivation and be willing to work harder.
Next, be sure that you're using all available resources. Do past exam papers. Read your syllabus. Watch extra YouTube videos. I also found that understanding context works wonders! Don't just understand the process, but understand why, when and where it happens. This will help you to understand the topic as a whole and not just the syllabus points- which will help you answer questions that require you to really understand the work.
Good luck and keep aiming for that course!
