What is Your Favourite Kitchen Utensil and Why?
« on: June 23, 2016, 09:11:53 pm »
The NSW Lecturing Crew did this as a way to introduce ourselves last month, and holy crap, it was surprisingly hilarious  ;D So feel free to join the stupidity with me  ::)

My favourite kitchen utensil is a whisk. I get satisfaction from mechanical whisking  8)

PS - Credit to Jake for this game. Hopefully people don't view him (and me) as too strange for loving this.

What can I say, it was a stroke of genius. I'm a big fan of a certain utensil type thing but I literally can't figure out what it's really called, or how to type out the sound I make to describe it. I call it a... joocha? djuscha? It goes dgooj. And it can make smoothies, and pesto, and dice onion, and pretty much to anything. An electric... blender of sorts? Its a JOO-DJA... whatever this clearly isn't working maybe you know what I mean.

Firstly, I won't give the real answer/reason because it'd freak the crap out y'all. ;)

Secondly, is it cheating to say, the Thermomix? :P  (By the way, on second thoughts, is that what you meant, Jake?)

Thirdly, if it is, I have to say the potato masher.  Doesn't everyone else like crushing up arrowroot biscuits with a potato masher?  Or watching all those little squidgy worms of potato wriggling out between the holes?

Hopefully people don't view him (and me) as too strange for loving this.

Lol.  I think I... well... I think this kind of couldn't make much difference to how strange I already thought you. :-\

Hmm okay a quick google search and the Thermomix isn't quite what I meant.

It sort of kind of looks like that. I swear I'm not crazy.

Lmao I've seen a lot of weird shit on this forum (Favourite notebook thread I'm talking bout you) but this by far has to take the prize.

My favourite kitchen appliance would probably be the sandwich press because it can transform somewhat old and unwanted pieces of bread into a delicious and enjoyable piece of bread :D

It has to be a mortar and pestle, my built up anger over school can be released through the smashing of peppercorns.

I would suggest this for any year 12 student!

The sandwich press is DEFINITELY up there for me  ;) however, I can vouch for pan-frying my ham and cheese toasties and being very happy with the results  ;)

Holy crap we need an ATAR Notes Recipe thread or something

tbh big fan of knives, but in case that doesn't count, cake-pop maker takes the cake (soz). Even if you're too lazy to make full-on cake pops, the cake-balls are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and you don't have to commit to making a whole cake. 10/10 finger food.

I can't up vote that, but if I could, I would create 100 fake accounts purely to come and respect that beautiful utensil  :o

Was anybody else of the opinion that utensil referred to, like, cutlery? And most of the things in this thread are appliances?
