Last stretch of VCE

Everyone has such exciting lives on here!! It was such a blast to read through many journals and follow people's hopes and dreams. I, however, am not an interesting fellow or have that many dreams, but I do hope that my incessant ramblings will entertain someone even to a small extent.

I'm writing this journal, because as counterproductive to studying it may be to spend time on AN (although very motivating), I feel as if I can alleviate some stress accrued from studies on this website, and posting might give me some more organisation to my life. For this last month, I'm going full throttle, and if I don't have many forms to blow that stress away, such as posting journals, then what can I do? This will also help me with English, with expressing myself. If you happen to see some virtuoso-style writing, that's what that probably is, but it is most likely that I'm just... really socially inefficient? There's already some garbage expression and I'm too in shame to even edit it out, so there it stays.

My subjects are in my sig, so there that is. In hindsight, I really regret not trying for Psychology. I crammed for SACs all year literally in the hour before, and didn't do much for the end-of-year, and if that got me 38, then what would have full-on grinding have gotten me? It's my bottom 2 subject alongside chemistry though, but it does pose some incorrigible stress on my wellbeing, now that I have to actually try for 4 subjects.Oh fun fact, Opera doesn't recognise "wellbeing" as a word. One of the suggestions is literally "bejewelling", yikes.

My strongest suite is Mathematics. All arrogance or hubris aside, I just get the subject. It's very like how people just get English. Of course I am cursed with not getting English instead, but hey, that's a fair trade off. Purely based on my practise exam scores, I am projecting a 45+ in Methods and anywhere in the 40s to 50 for Specialist, scores depending on my mood and condition on the day of exam (big factor for maths exams, to be honest).

Also, until VCE starts (Oct 30/31, don't remember), my plan is only doing English with a touch of Accounting. I really CANNOT believe that English is mandatory top 4, how cursed. However, if I don't put in work, I'll only get 35ish, but I feel as if I can push high 30s by grinding it out. A 38 for English would be BEYOND lovely for me. For Accounting, I am currently projecting 39-41 based on my practise exam scores, but this can also be improved like English.

In contrast to subjects that I have put in effort and care into, we now have Chemistry. I have completely and utterly given up on this subject. I absolutely loathe this subject with every fibre of my being, and I wish to disconnect my brain stem every time I look at Chemistry questions. Okay, but on a positive note, based on what I have learned over the year, the trial exam wasn't THAT difficult. I am hoping for at least a 50% on the end of year exam, so maybe i should learn the course? Oh yeah, I haven't even learned the course. I'm projecting literally a 28 at this rate, but if I can pull a 35 out of nowhere, it'll surely be enough to even shake the faith of any atheists.

I don't know what else to talk about in the intro, and feel like I've introduced my subjects plenty. I guess posting daily based on progress I've made is a good start, so until tomorrow, adieu?

Oh yeah, there's my university preferences

I put in bcom/actsci at unimelb, and data science for monash as a backup. My ATAR goal is 98.5 though, which is severely crippled by my inability to write expressively and coherently link ideas in English. I was planning on asking if any Actsci students frequent this forum, but I remembered it's act.

Hey Evolio! My subjects are basically Asian 5, but thanks for the flattery :(, wish i did some subjects that could apply ot real life (eco perhaps)

In regards to the act question, I considered it as my strongest suite is Maths, and I feel like that pathway could be the best way to go in life. Haven't found another course that could fit (certainly not med, that's too droll)

Hey nice to see another maths race hate chem person here, how you do?

English is quite good and once I've really started grinding it, it's a bundle of fun that I haven't bothered to explore before. That's my own regrets. Just sucks that my expression on essays are hot garbage and affects me.

I read your journal other day, you going for that chancellor's grind yo! Even though you're in y10 rn I can feel the potential from your passion, don't stop going for that. Are you going for chancellors for personal benefits or there's a course you'd like to get into (I should read your intro journal again, mbmb)

2019/09/25

The day isn't over yet, so I can't talk for what I'll do today. Just finished a comparative English essay I've been writing and did a Specialist Exam 2 (79/80), will be looking at Accounting later on. With a plethora of advise and encouragement from close friends I've been fired up to do really well in Accounting!! My friend who got 50 in PE last year specifically gave me some juicy advise, such as telling me to look at study design and follow it. Guess I'll be doing that.

My English teacher also read my Text Response and spelt my name wrong in her response email ...... That's okay

Can't wait to go back to school for trial exam + SAC marks and to finish off SACs whoo

HAHA chem hasn't taken over my life yet

English sounds fun, I was rlly set on doing it since I've been taking tutoring catered towards mainstream since Year 8. I ended up changing my mind a month ago and decided for Lit instead. I get the expression parts though, whenever I write essays I put hours of work into it and try to make it perfection so the time limit will kill me

Aww thanks for those motivating words! I'm trying for Chancellors purely out of opening options for different courses (but aiming towards med at melb uni which will be a lot easier if I get the KLD)

Also congrats on the 79/80 on spesh! Hope u do well in accounting as well

Out of plain curiosity, what kind of ATAR are you aiming for?

Yo I've generally found that majority of people are absolute BEASTS in Chem, but I unfortunately belong to the group that doesn't get it no matter how hard they try. It's just a matter of how we think, I guess.

Studying is decent rn, doing 6-7 hours average a day in the hols, but could be doing more. Also driving me crazy haha but as expected for the final stretch

Chem's a worthwhile subject, I reckon you should put 100% effort into it. It's "low hanging fruit" in my friend's words (he got 49 in chem and that's his BOTTOM TWO), so it's a worthwhile investment, and you're going for med too

Oh, you still got a full year to decide on Lit or Eng. They're pretty similar in that they analyse books, but I heard that 19/20 for Lit essays is a 45+ and the examiners are super harsh, but I love the fact that Lit only focuses on books while Eng also has language analysis or orals, you guys have less to worry about. Also I know right? After putting hours into essays and making it good then getting feedback, the logical move is to review essay, but ahhhh cbs, its perfect. I don't understand how you're supposed to write a good essay in 1 hour damn, it takes me that long think of ideas LOLL

Yo, a 99+ and I'm pre sure you would be able to go to 99% of the universities. Med at melb uni though? Ahh yikes, I've heard more positive things about Monash, but haven't done research on it, you'll probably know more

Uh, 35 Eng 45/40 both maths and 38 will get me a 96.8 (what I feel like I'd get if I choke exams). 40/50/48/45 in same order will get me a 99.5, which is the absolute MAXIMUM I think that I'll be able to get (which my parents are expecting from me, my sister got 99.45 eee). My course is 93 though, and so I can afford to be a bit more lax with my studies but a 98+ will probably be sufficient enough  ;D

A side note, I have friends who do BOTH lit and eng. Whilst analysis from Lit could carry over to English, those people are the scariest types of human beings on Earth, jesus.

That's insane jkay__!! Massive congratulations!! ;D

Thanks!! Getting this on actual exam will blow me away hahah

Woahhh a 49 in chem? That's in my dreams XD
And yeah I'm thinking about doing Mainstream and Lit if Japanese 1/2 doesn't end up going too well for me
I am aiming towards Melb Uni because it's closer to home (Monash is like far far away) and my friends and I have decided we're gonna move out together if all 3 of us get in together
Good luck for Spesh though, glad ur enjoying a subject most people unfortunately tend to dislike
