Methods SAC Scaling at Selective Entry School

Hey all,
This is my first post on AtarNotes! My school (MHS) just had a methods sac today for the whole of unit 3 and tbh i have mixed emotions about it. Maths is one of my strongest subjects and i was aiming for raw 45+ for methods but after today's sac, i've lost all hope. I think i did above average but definitely not in the top quintile, which is somewhat worrying   
I think i'll get around 70%   

Can anyone give a heads up on how methods sac will scale up for MHS?

Seeing that about 80 people from MHS got 40+ last year, its definitely possible still! Remember that the exam counts towards the vast majority of your study score, and you are from a very strong cohort, so don't give up!

Hey! As long as you do well in your remaining SACs and the exam, you should be fine. I didn’t go to MHS but I was in a similar (albeit slightly weaker) cohort - I had a roughly high 80s average for my SACs at school and they got moderated to high 90s by VCAA, iirc.

Also, I only realised this recently but a lot of schools don’t actually submit your raw SAC marks to VCAA, but they play around with it to ensure the highest scaling from moderation at the end of the year. I don’t really understand the technicalities but basically, don’t worry about SAC marks - focus on knowing the content and make sure your rank is good. GL!

Fellow selective school student here  You'll be fine! I did much worse than you on two of my major SACs (I'm talking 60s-early 70s ) and got a 44  Just try to grind for the other SACs and learn from your mistakes!
