Rip. I heard you guys had a growing annuity again for the finance question. No wonder you guys are complaining about it a lot - that's one of the considerably harder curveballs I've seen. (There was a similar question in Jamon's compilation but to be honest I hardly expected anyone to memorise that particular one.)

Above post would make sense with the r=1.05/1.04

Also, probability had area and derivatives...?

I got 5/27 aswell... relieved. For the max minima did you guys l=r.theta and 2pi.radius to link value of x with theta??

yea pretty sure I did it like that. My answer was a weird number tho if I remember with roots on top and bottom

The last two questions were hard, but frankly, the 1990s papers were much harder.
The only thing I'm worried about is the probability question in MCQ, about selecting shoes to get a pair.
I did 1/4, but I think the answer should be 1/7 because you're selecting the second shoe from 7 other shoes for a pair, but you don't count the probability of finding the first shoe since it's that what cause you to choose the second shoe.
All in all, a bit harder than recent years, but there've been harder papers than these.

I didn't get the answer in the exam since I ran out of time and was in a rush. But  I did it now and got 5/27

Yeh I felt as though it was quite demanding...
Did anyone understand that last part of q16? I got parts 1&2 which were giveaway marks really... But just couldn't figure out that last one!!
Looking at what everyone else got for MC I reckon I stuffed up a fair bit!!

What was that last question? I was so close! Just have decimals rather than hundreds in the fraction on the left what was all to the power of n, ah so annoying!

Also no indefinite integrals? Quite interesting

Overall a fairly challenging paper with a few curveballs, I think I did really well but I know some of my friends weren't feeling the same way

No, you should have decimals to the power of n. Then, taking the n out, you change the decimals to hundreds by multiplying 100/100.

What do you mean 'take the n out' when it's a power? Also I had the RHS as what the question wanted, so I should get 2/3 which is fine

I did pretty well, but I made the dumbest mistake ever.

It was on the cone question in Q16, I did everything right except I copied down the wrong value for the radius of the cone, so I screwed up the last part of the question pretty hard seeing as I didnt even answer the question properly. It was so stupid because I checked and rechecked but I couldnt even see that my value for theta was far too big

Really super duper pissed at myself  >:( >:( >:(

It's 1.04n/1.05n
Then, you do (1.04/1.05)n because it's a common power
Then multiply by 100/100 and you get (104/105)n

Just noticed this, it wasn't particularly terrible. I just spent 30 minutes on it before I realised the first term in the geometric series was meant to be raised to the n-1th power, not the nth. Probability was maybe too heavily emphasised, but outside of silly mistakes WHICH I CAN NEVER EVER SEE I feel this paper was similar to ones we've seen before, though maybe with a different curveball question

EDIT: tbh i always trip up on the max min even when I know how to do it, still steamed
