I have to write a research investigation report on the question "Do we need crude oil?", but I don't know how I should structure it. Does anyone have any tips?

Hey there! Welcome to the forum!

I have to write a research investigation report on the question "Do we need crude oil?", but I don't know how I should structure it.
I would structure it as such:
-Sources and method of extraction.
  - consequences of this (economically, environmentally etc)
- Applications in the industry.
  - consequences of this (environmentally and commercially etc)?
- Final remarks where you weigh the pros and cons, propose alternatives and make your decision as a yes or no.

Hello!

I did a similar research report topic so I can give you some tips :)

Structure (similar to 1729's):
- what is crude oil and what is it made up of
- how is it obtained
- what comes from crude oil
- impacts on the wider world (economic, environmental, social, ethical)

Some handy tips:
- use simple language that you can understand (no fancy lingo that no one understands)
- use graphs and pictures
- use dot points to list where appropriate
- cite sources throughout researching and writing, not all at the end

Hope this helps  ;D
