Also thinking about taking up ballet as a form of exercise...I've always wanted to become a prefessional ballerina but as my mum was a single teen mum money was a huge issue and i wasn't able to take classes...only now when i'm 16 have we got the disposable income to pay for things like ballet classes... and to be honest I don't know if I want to because i know I'll never be able to do it professionally but should i do it?? I'm still really bitter about the fact I wasn't able to start at a young age and that has affected any future I might have had dancing professionally. Honestly I'm feeling pretty shit about that does anyone know of professional ballerinas that started in their late teens??
my boyfriend tuned up at my house at half past 9 with a rose and chocolate 😍
^Is goal two there for high school or after high school?
P.S. Love your jokes. They're so bad they're good haha. 😂
Nice to learn more about you! :)
What's the #1 country you'd like to travel to atm?
hmm thats hard but I think I'd go with Colombia...or maybe Peru...that's such a hard question! I wanna see everywhere!!
Hello JadeRhoden!Hey Evolio!
How are you going with 3/4 Biology? I'm also doing that subject! What interests you about it?
Also, yes! You should definitely go to India! There are always amazing experiences!
:) :)
Units 1 & 2 Legal Studies: County Court Excursion was great and very informative, we sat in on two different cases - a murder trial in the Supreme Court and a drug smuggling trial in County Court. Those cases both seem interesting, what made you find the experience informative?. I remember doing something similar when I did Legal Studies and recall being a lot more interested in the County Court case than the Supreme Court case as the SCC was going over some very boring details at the time of attendance.

Congrats on your English mark! :)
Do you know why you scored higher this time?
thankyouuuu
Um tbh I'm not too sure - my friends think its cause I have a different teacher this year (I previously had the same English teacher from year 7 - 10)
But idk, maybe Im taking it more seriously this year??
Actually i might have figured it out I read the text 3 times instead of the usual half arsed read cause i HAD to
READING THE BOOK HELPS KIDDOS 😂
I haven't read through all your posts to see if you decided on studio or legal
but my advice is don't do legal, it's the most insipid class you will find...at least studio will probably be enjoyable which will make it easier to learn and get you higher marks!
Yessss! That's fantastic - has made my morning a little better. ;D Awesome work!Nawww thankyouuu :D
That sounds very intense. Hope you're able to take some time off to recuperate if that would help at all
Congratualtions on getting your work done :)
I haven't been to any of the vegan restaraunts in the city but I've been to Oh My Greens in Melton and that was really nice. Do you know what type of book you would pick?

stressing about the fact I don't know what I want to do with my life.Too relatable. And I'm in Year 12! I reckon some uni students still don't know what to do either!
If anyone can direct me to threads about 90+ ATAR's and 50 study scores I'd be so grateful.I may be beaten to it, but I have these two AN links saved to my bookmarks and it may be of use to you. :)
Term 2, Week 2; 29/04/2019 - 03/05/2019

You might have noticed I'm considering only doing 4 subjects.. will I be shooting myself in the leg if I only do 4 subjects?
Definitely would do another subject
Thought I'd pop in for a visit. Year 11 treating you well so far?

Hey Jade. What do you see to be the pros and cons of doing 4/5 subjects as it stands? :)
and teachers are suggesting you do 6 so then you use your 'free time' more productively.
Not sure I agree with this bit necessarily. Sorry if you've covered it already, but remind me what the other subject you'd be considering is?
called SeaWorld the other day, before I got through to SeaWorld, I had to say "Jump through the hoop! Do a flip!"God damnit, I have no idea why this made me laugh so much but it did.
They said my call may be recorded for training porpoises.
God damnit, I have no idea why this made me laugh so much but it did.
Units 3 & 4 Biology: I'm so lost we are talking about T cells and B cells and I THOUGHT DENDRITES WERE IN THE BRAIN
Hey Jade!! Haven't commented here yet so thought I'd say hello. How are you finding Year 11? And lol same I did Psych last year and we learnt about neurons and dendrites then. Oooh I just saw you're doing Psych too YASS it's the BEST!!! Of course having the most amazing teacher helped a lot! What movie are you watching? Great job on your Business Management mark!!
Why is Criminology/Paramedicine your dream career? And I'm really liking those smart and specific goals you've set yourself, a Year 12 may just be having to take up some of that and use it too ;)lobster joke!!(https://i.imgur.com/KgjWxW1.jpg)
Units 1 & 2 Psychology: Still watching the movie cause teacher kept accidentally making the movie go back to the start (its a 3 hr movie...) and he said oh well thats good cause then you can take notes
What a stitch-up. 😂
What's the movie, btw? I remember watching (read: being in the room for) The Truman Show and Mean Girls in Psych 1&2.
Haha, we are watching Boyhood
I know this might be off topic, but would it be manageable if you don't do U1 of Psych and enter U2?
Never heard of it - what's it about?
Joke Of The WeekI simultaneously love this and am annoyed.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
I simultaneously love this and am annoyed.
You have your mid-year exam for bio next week correct? Are you feeling prepared?
Yeah the exam is in Monday and at the moment I'm feeling pretty good, pretty prepared - I'm currently going over my notes and making sure i know how to explain it all (rather then have notes that are just words on a page that don't mean much).
I have an English exam as well and its a Text Analysis and I am so nervous - I have always struggled with essays and this year my marks are going down (idk whether im getting shit or teacher is marking me harder).
All my other subjects I'm pretty confident about and business....im tryna keep an open mind but its so boring and i really wanna drop it
YAY for exams :'(
Term 3 Week 1Term 3 Goals:1. Get a 4.0 GPA
2. B+ (89%) Average in all classesHow has everyone set out their maths bound reference??? Idk how to set mine outHoliday Summary:Worked lots of shifts at the pool
Did my swimming teacher course
Went out on lots of SES jobs during the weather event
Been doing lighting for Lyric Theatres "Young Frankenstein" (only 4 more shows to go!)
ALSO I want to do Deakin Accelerate: Law next year alongside my year 12 studies... has anyone done this before? Any tips? What kind of marks do I need to get into it?
Worked lots of shifts at the pool
Did my swimming teacher course
Wow- cool job! How did you get the gig? Did you have to do the training first?Yeah, its a pretty cool job. I am currently a lifeguard there, and they were advertising swim teaching positions so I was like to my boss "I'd be interested in doing that" and he was like awesome and so i went as did my course which involves about half theory and half practical with a 'fitness assessment'.
Your journal has been a good read so far!
Looking forward to an update :)
This was posted a while ago, but I was just wondering if you actually have mid-year exams for 3/4 subjects? I thought it was just the end of the year exam.
4.0 GPA: GPA reports come out this ThursdayDoes your school give out regular GPA reports?
Does your school give out regular GPA reports? We get one about week 8 of every term :)
Yeah! I think it would be super cool if teachers focused more on work ethic, organisation, resilience ect. and less on the marks for specific tests. Our school has introduced "learning maps" that come with comments about our learning, alongside a grade for each task. We get one learning map for each subject each semester but it is updated throughout.Wow, learning maps sound like a really useful way for school focussed self-improvement! Our school introduced "what makes an effective learner" profiles about 12 months ago and are now basing our GPA's on the 5 main things that make someone an effective learner. I think it will be cool to see our GPA's based not only on our grades but rather on how effectively we learn.
Nope, my school has an online portal with our grades for each subject on it as well as other features such as our timetable, websites such as edrolo etc and submissions of assessments. Our parents can check this and we get a report each semester.
It's quite interesting though to see how different schools make their reports in different ways.

Man i think ive woken up everyday this week and thought it was Friday! I am 110% ready for the term to be overrrr! Any one else like this?Yep
Lately I've been majorly lacking in the motivation department - I am OVER year 11 and I just want it to be the summer holidays!!BIG MOOD
HURRY UP SUMMER
G'day
Officially starting Year 11 on Wednesday!!
Many people say that year 11 doesn't really matter which is true in some regards, I'm planning on putting as much effort into year 11 as I would year 12 so that I can see what my predicted study score would be 'as if I was in Year 12' as I am aiming for a 99.95 which I know is unrealistic but I believe if I aim really high its better than doing Year 12 going 'meh' and getting a 60.
My goals for 2019:
Study 24 hours a week (4 hours per subject)
Get up at 6 am every day (to maximise time in the day)
Exercise every day for the recommended 90 minutes
Aim for A+ on all SAC's and Exams.
In Year 9 and 10 I was averaging C's and D's in English and I really want to change that so I'm going to make sure i work especially hard on that and if you have any advice for me that would be fantastic!
My subjects for 2019 are;
3 & 4 Biology
1 & 2 Business Management
1 & 2 Psychology
1 & 2 English
1 & 2 General Maths
I am still to choose a sixth subject and am tossing up between Studio Arts and Legal (any advice on choosing would be amazing)
Plans For The Future;
I'm planning on going to university and studying paramedicine or audio engineering or production lighting (sound tech or like live theatre)
Paramedicine is my main focus as I'm already doing production lighting and audio stuff with local theatre and I'm getting work working local music festivals.
Hoping to post weekly :)Post FormatCode: [Select]Term x, Week x; DD/MM/YYYY - DD/MM/YYYY

Hello, please watch what you say next time when posting... a 60 might be considered a great score for some one who is disadvantage like me.. a 60 is pretty good at a crappy school.
60 is considered a good score.. a 60 is basically getting average scores in all your school subjects.
Hi YussifK,
I understand being disadvantaged because of a crappy school and I apologise if what I have said has upset you. I strongly believe you can do anything no matter who you are or of your circumstances and in your case, the school you go to.
I believe that if I went 'meh' and just cruised through year 12 I feel like a 60 would be within reach whereas if I worked my ass off I might have a chance at a 90 ATAR.
If anything I am deliberately having overly high expectations of myself, hence viewing a 60 as meh because I personally believe that I wouldn't have put in my best effort to achieve an average score and potentially misleading myself that I might even have the chance to get a 90+ ATAR.
I believe you would achieve such score cause you seem very bright... I was a little hurt via the fact that I’m disadvantaged... and the highest atar last year at my school was suppose to be 76 but for some reason it became 70.(I don’t know how though)
People at my school are aiming for 50+ 😭 it worries me so much... I actually hope one day you achieve such amazing score🙏 (You would)
You can achieve anything you set your mind to - you can get the score you want even if your disadvantage as I'm sure you've heard VCE rewards hard work not smarts
I was just reading through your post... and I’m so happy for you... YOU GOT a B in English congrats.Rank matters more than scores but check out the links below as they may be able to help you more then I :)
One question: if average 70+ percent in all my subjects what would my study score likely be...
Hey J!
I feel exactly like you at the moment, and I can definitely relate to your biology struggles (just did my 1st prac exam and got 47%....), so I know that everything feels like just too much at the moment but try to remember that it is almost over!
In terms of if you should do 4 or 5 subjects, it is really up to you. Doing a 5th won't make much of a difference to your ATAR as it only adds on 10% and it just means more work. Personally for me, I am doing 4 subjects as I know I can try and focus on them to get the best scores that I can. So just think about the extra work load for something that won't make too much of a difference.
English is such a struggle for me too! I don't have alot of money, so a youtube channel that is based on VCE english has some great videos which you should check out to see if you find helpful. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkH6-sgIxWjGb0kAaybyzew
Hang in there and good luck!
May I ask....why don’t you study what has been learnt for your biology sac... get Atar notes topic test.... ( the best advice I got my teacher was before an upcoming sac... ask what’s important to study and show he/her what Kind of question should I study from the atar notes topic test... you will be on your way to good marks 70+My SACs were alot easier than the exams, so the content in them isn't in enough detail for me to do well. I haven't got the topic tests from atar notes but I am using the ones from NEAP. Honestly what is making my marks bad at the moment is my study technique. I didn't revise before I took the exam, so my knowledge was quite rusty, so I am currently trying to mend those holes by going over notes and rewriting things I forgot or didn't know. But thanks for the advice, I think preparing really just varies between people and what their experiences are.

I also have an English outcome on Monday which I am SO nervous for!! But thank god our teacher gave us the prompt on Friday so I can write an essay and plan it and try and recreate it on Monday....why is comparative writing SO HARD!?I know, right!?
I also got my score for my biology SAC...I thought I did really good but only got 75% because I didn't put enough background reference in my intro and my discussion wasn't long enough :'( which means I need at least an 85% on the exam to have a chance at pulling a 35 ssGood luck!!
Other than that my school week was preeeetty uneventful....so heres a joke: A slice of apple pie is $2.50 in Jamaica and $3.00 in the Bahamas. These are the pie rates of the Caribbean. That's awful. ::)
Also any song suggestions for this months playlist????It's sPoOky sEasOn, so I reckon the "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" themesong has gotta be on there. Also billie's All The Good Girls Go to Hell is pretty creepy.
Hope everyone's week is going great so far!!You too!
How's it going jade?
What are your feelings towards the bio exam? Do you feel prepared?
Hey Geoo! I am feeling super unprepared for the exam even though I know the content I am struggling with working my responses in trial exams to gain full marks and demonstrate my knowledge. To an extent I am considering redoing Biology next year because HERE I COME UNDER 15 STUDY SCORE!That really sucks! I know how you feel at the moment, I have done about 16 exams an was never able to get above 70% aside from 1, so that really wasn't promising. I went into the year wanting a 45, but know all I want is over 35. I know the content and can recall is quite well, but my expression in the SA questions is just terrible..... I generally get close to full marks multiple choice which is good just the SA's is where it gets me....
How about you? How are you feeling?

I have kind of come to terms with it, so I am actually not feeling to stressed and quite calm whilst still just trying to study anything I can. I feel more disappointed than anything else, as I feel all my hard work throughout the year going down the drain. Other than that I feel fine, just waiting to get it over with, ripe of the band aid. ;)
I don't think you will get a 15 :P I definitely think you will do better than you think! I wish you luck and lets just be thankful that it will all be over soon...
:-[ you just explained pretty much exactly how i feel jeez.
It's so difficult to express my self in short answer questions :-\

omg following onto all of your comments above ^^^ i'm struggling with short answer as well !! it's so frustrating when you know the content, but you're not sure what aspects they are looking for :(
How'd it go J_Rho ?
It was hard but nowhere near as hard that I thought it would be. I got lucky with the question about block mutations as id been revising that as I was straightening my hair this morning but the last question was asking about limitations in regards to an experiment.... I had no IDEA what to put for my answer!
How did you go with your psych exam Ionic Doc???
Hey J_Rho
Similar to you this exam was definitely harder than previous years.
Multiple Choice took a bit longer than expected, (a couple of questions where more than 1 option seemed correct)
short answer section was pretty straight forward and I feel like i did decent,
the extended response section was really general, I knew all the theory but linking back to the scenario was a hit difficult.
Overall just hoping I can get a study score greater or equal to 35.
On a positive note, no matter what happens I know that everyone who's done a 3/4 this year will have developed great skills and knowledge to prep them up for year 12.
So are your year 11 exams around the corner?
I'm sure you've done great! Bring on year twelllllllllve!
I have my yr11 exams in 2 weeks and I'm sure glad they don't count towards my S/N in my subjects tho, how about you what are your yr11 exams? Feeling prepared?

.maybe I'm not being too unrealistic on myself but then again some of the students in my year level... have never gotten below a B+ or A so then again maybe I am being unrealistic because honestly, I know and ATAR is just a number but I want to show everyone that I am smart and dedicated and show the teachers who have said that I am not high achieving, that I amHey J_Rho, just wanted to chip in here to say that while it's great that you're aiming high for next year, placing unnecessary stress on yourself isn't. At the end of the day, I think that the most important thing is to try to do your best, not necessarily be the best. Besides, I think that the main thing is to work hard but also smart and the results will follow! Obsessing about others in your cohort who could do well in Yr 12, won't bring you closer to your own goals. But, focussing on yourself and your own study habits will ;)

I'm not ready to do year 12 - I want to go back to Year 7 where it was chill and the work was easy and I could muck around a little in class and it didn't matter but alas I'm getting older and I've reached my final year.I think about this a lot and I just wish I could time travel and relive those happy days, where there were more laughs than cry fests. You're nearly there! Just keep pushing and you'll emerge a warrior!
i mean im literally about to start on making unit 3 notes for HHD and I've already started Psych, and LegalWow, you're so ahead! That's great! It's pushing me to finish my chemistry homework!
I think about this a lot and I just wish I could time travel and relive those happy days, where there were more laughs than cry fests. You're nearly there! Just keep pushing and you'll emerge a warrior!hahah yes i miss how fun the science lessons were and how easy the maths was!! Thanks for the motivation!

All I gotta say is I hope you ace year 12... well I think I’m notThank you, I'm sure you will be rewarded for the effort you put in - make sure you don't fall down the same path I did last year, study more than trying to find the best way to study or the best resources (as last year I overplanned and never got anything done) your teacher should give you all the content you need for your sac so make sure you study what they've taught but also get other peoples perspectives and if you can definitely do practice questions on plasma membranes
Also, got a sac for plasma membranes have you done this sac for bio what you do? To study
B r u h. I can't even. I don't know why I'm behind or why it feels like I've missed a week of class but like wow can I go back to Year 7.That's awesome that you are able to do the bio SAC, i'm so happy for you! You're not the only one who wants to go back to year 7, I am so overwhelmed with the workload that seems to be never ending.
One (stressful) positive is that I've bugged my senior school coordinator enough that she is letting me do the Bio SAC (at least that's what my teacher said)! Yay.
I have a list of shit to get done by the end of the week and I am NOT going to log in until I've done it and I'll treat myself to some skittles
If not then I will wear a virtual cone of shame.

Enjoy you skittles!
Re: Centrelink payments you mentioned in your post a few days ago, that is true generally, but also the majority of people in year 12 aren't eligible to get their own centrelink payments and parents instead get payment (comes under family tax benefit i think). Although not sure what'll happen if school closes for the year given that should technically make you eligible in the same way that someone who dropped out of high school would be eligible.
FIRST AND FOREMOST
My local library is closed, I forgot to go to my school library yesterday and now I have no books to read and I am so sad :(
This whole thing is a bit of an odd situation haha
Same! I love reading but during VCE I have no time so I was always getting these huge fines. So a few weeks ago I took 5 books back and remained with one and was reading it slowly. Now I have maybe 10 minutes worth of reading left in this book and idk what to do because I also read near bedtime and looking at the screen of an ebook doesn’t seem like it’d wind me down as much. Such sad times.
You should be able to uber library books, like uber eats 8)Yeah but definitely no charge! So maybe we’d all have to own drones which pick them up.
I am feeling a multitude of feelings regarding the school closure, I understand the need but it also sucks A LOT. Apparently NSW isn't closing schools till the end to the term which is like 2 or 3 weeks away and that makes me think why cant we stay open for 3 more days. 3 days to feel normal, whatever that is right now. Like wtf is the point of today all it did was stress everyone out and im feeling very... odd. Monday should be the start of the week but like its not. I just...i just dont know what to feel. Im feeling very claustrophobic in the sense that worst-case scenario I'll be stuck at home for 6 months. I was gonna borrow from the school library at lunchtime but im so distracted right now like WHAT AM I DOING. Like the formal notice that schools would close Tuesday was issued last night at like 11pm THIS ISNT ENOUGH TIME (like the local council giving my workplace 5 HOURS NOTICE FOR CLOSING) im flustered and all over the shop and honestly scared
This is all very very strange and weird and i hope things get better
I agree but I do also understand where all of this is coming from!! the thing is.. I was supposed to do my bio sac this week so now its just been postponed to who knows when? i don't want to spend 3 weeks (at least) worrying about it :(

Alright so, I found some Loreal Colorista Washout Orange in my bathroom cupboard that I forgot that I got last year as a present.
Should I colour my hair??? I can't post a link to the product as it's not sold anymore but here's an image of the product let me know yes or no in the vote at the top or let me know what you think? Am I making a horrible mistake or should it be fine given it is a semi-permanent dye or do you think it'll look bomb?image(https://imgur.com/JW2jBUP.png)
EDIT: Whos voting no?? WHY!!!??? let me know why I shouldn't!
Well since we're in quarantine, why not?
How long does hair colouring usually last for?
Do it! There is no harm, and as CM said, if it turns out badly no one is going to see!I think I'm just terrified from all those relatives saying "never dye your hair it'll never look as beautiful as it does before you do it" which is stupid cause hair grows out and it's not permanent!
Go for it J_Rho, add some colour to these darker times!!
Plus, no one has to see it if it looks bad anyway (which I'm sure it won't)
My plan for this subject is to get all of AOS 1 and 2 checkpoints and topic tests are done by the end of the holidays.I haven't done this or even started it. But this is because I've been working through the bare minimum for my other subjects first before I do the extra 5% but hopefully in the next day or two I'll get to this. I was not happy with my last SAC mark (84%), and I don't think it was reflective of the effort I've been putting into Psych. However I'm not too bummed about it as I am Rank 1 so to me its like a lil warning like Hey, you're doing good but watch out, you gotta step up your game. So I need to get on top of that and do lots of practice questions.
I've completed most of AOS2, but I'm being pretty cruisy cause my teacher only set Chapter 8 for holiday homework so the plan for today is to do Chapter 8, 9 and 10 and do a Unit 3 practice exam. My plan for this subject is to make sure I'm doing a practice exam a week and actually revising.Alright, I haven't done this, as I already have my notes from last year so I'm focussing on Maths, English and Legal and will come back to this once all that is done. But I'm just going to say, THE EDROLO 2020 TEXTBOOK IS AWESOME.
I'm halfway through Chapter 6 and then I'll do Chapter 7 from the Cambridge book and then do all the Data Analysis questions on Edrolo. This is my task for today, to finish all my FM homework...I'm almost finished Ch7 so hopefully I can also start on English stuff also.
Tomorrow will be finishing a Language analysis practice SAC that I started on the last day of term. On Monday I'm going to do the 2017 practice exam (but only the text analysis and analyzing argument), and if I'm feeling good do some of the Language analysis exercises in the Pearson English textbook and finish making notes on the LA Edrolo videos.I haven't done any of this. This is my job for the next 2 days. I just need to do it, starting is the hardest part and I know if I don't do it I'll feel like shit and my grades will be reflective of the lack of effort.
Next week will predominantly be reviving Edrolo AOS1 for a SAC that's supposed to be held first week of term, and then working through the videos for AOS2. And then I have to work through AOS2 in the textbook up to pg. 170 so basically just stuff on CAV and VCAT. My plan for this subject is to once I've done that do all the checkpoints for AOS1 so I'm really prepared for the upcoming SAC.I don't even know what day it is, and I think we are still in "next week", BUT I am yet to start on this stuff. Thats also my job for the next 2 days. And I honestly think I need to prioritise tasks and then turn off my computer and phone and just do it. Until I realise that all my textbooks and edrolo is online, great. Looks like I'm going to be downloading a app blocker and only allowing Edrolo, Google Drive and RESN, because ya girl have no self control.
I am so sorry for your loss J_Rho :'( :'( :'(Thank you for your support girlie ♡
Hey J_Rho, hope you're doing well!
Good to see you've done most of your holiday homework, I'll be starting a few assignments tonight that are due on Wednesday, so you're ahead of me at least. :)
Do you know how your online classes are going to work? Even though I had one day of online classes last term, I haven't received much communication about how they will be running, so I'm curious as to how yours will work.
I'm doing okay, how about you? How are you coping with everything?
For most of my classes, we will just be doing work set by the teacher and when it comes to attendance we have to write our name in the group chat. For one of my classes, we will be using Google Meet to start the class so the teacher can explain the lesson and mark the roll. I've attached some photos in the spoiler below, basically (dunno if u use this or not, i can see my timetable for the day and i click of a class and it opens what you see in the second image and of course we have a class group chat in which we ask questions and attendance is marked.Spoiler(https://imgur.com/VS30wZf.png) (https://imgur.com/0RhQYsb.png)
EDIT: Eloisegrace's journal entry about facts about her made me remember...
One of the local theatres I volunteer for was supposed to be doing Mamma Mia this year and I was heartbroken I wouldn't be able to work it because I'm in Yr 12 and it wasn't feasible to do a few months of shows with Kinky Boots and then bump out (usually starts as soon as the last show finishes and goes early into the next morning) and then get a few hours sleep before bumping in the same afternoon for Mamma Mia to do another few months. But they cancelled so we most likely will do it next year! Which means I will be able to do it!!!!
My group chat for Maths Methods in Google Classrooms is being spammed with memes and random chit chat as of now ahahah. My Chem teacher told me to sign up to Zoom so I'm guessing a lot of my classes will soon be conducted on there. We had a similar experiment in psych class the other day for classical conditioning, except, we didn't use wizz fizz and used chips instead. When my teacher went to buy it, there was none left because people had been stocking up on it :/I wish my class chats were that fun! Our teachers are like "this is for learning only", has your school gone ahead using Zoom (despite security issues)? Oh no! Did you end up being able to do the experiment? But hey i don't blame people (i do panic buyers suck), chips are good! (panic buyers deserve to live for a week on nothing but oats, and some random condiments)

Online Schooling Day 3: Time to start a youtube career
16 April 2020
Welcome back to my channel! Hi! How are ya?
I think it is time I begin my journey as a beauty guru. Buh bye ATAR, hello Youtube.
In all seriousness, online school isn't too bad. Of course, there are some negatives such as I have not motivation or discipline and sitting in a class is a lot better to ask questions etc but there are quite a few positives such as the fact there is more time in the day to do stuff! To those that do school completely online all the time, I applaud you. You are mfing superheroes.
Psychology:
This class is being run via a group chat, so its all VERY self directed. So far we are being given worksheets to do which is lovely and we have not been told anything about our upcoming SAC. In all honesty, I actually prefer Psych in an online format.
Biology:
Again this class is very self-directed, we did video call with the teacher yesterday and he basically asked us if we had any questions and then he left us to do our work. Not sure how this is going to work for the rest of the term but practicals aren't that necessary for this subject but I feel like it'll lowkey suck having online classes
Further Maths:
The teacher is currently sending us videos for each exercise showing us how to do stuff which i really helpful as the textbook often doesn't explain things very well. I just had a class and we did a practice sac and it actually went pretty well but like we were all so scared to ask questions.
English:
The teacher talks so so so much. She talks and explains things and tells us to do xyz while she explains things and it's really hard to try and do work AND focus on what she's saying, she has asked for feedback so I'll definitely communicate this to her. I much much much prefer doing English in person.
Legal Studies:
So far, really good. The teacher talks for the first 15 min answers questions and then lets us get on with the required work and is available in the group chat to answer questions. He leaves really detailed lesson plans on what he wants us to do and what is expected of us at the start and end of each lesson.
The principal decided that Zoom contained too many privacy issues so he sent an email saying that ZOom was banned and now we're using WebEx instead. Do you prefer online learning or learning in a classroom setting?Webex works really well, I use it for SES and prolly think its better than Google Meet.
The lower and upper quartiles for the Early Industrial Era, Post World War 2 Era and the Modern Era have increased, with the lower quartiles of 19.85, 19.965 and 20.25 and upper quartiles of 20.67, 20.765 and 20.92 respectively. This shows us there is an increasing trend in temperatures over time.I am resigned to the fact I will score so so so badly on this like less than 40% I swear. Sorry that’s a lie im not resigned to it – I’m really stressed and I feel like imma breakdown any minute because I want to do really well in FM 😭
I'm going to write an essay every day leading up to my LA SAC on the 5th and write a text analysis essay, language analysis essay and a comparative essay every fortnight. It's great you want to write more essays! Writing an essay every day might be (quite) a difficult feat, and unless you are constantly receiving feedback, it won't be much help. Remember to take a break and relax too!
Hey J_Rho! It's great that you're so determined to improve. I understand what it feels like to not reach your goals, or just wish for that little bit higher. Regarding what your old English teacher said - that does not mean you can't change the quality of your essays! I certainly did not right any practice essays at that time, and I know many others who didn't either, but put in the effort now and are currently doing well. It's good you understand what your next steps are - but don't let what your teacher say define you. You have the time and ability to improve and nothing can change that! :)

Good luck with your goals! :D
That is a wicked awesome score! Congratulations that's fantastic!Thank you Geoo! I'm feeling a better about the mark cause it is a good mark I think to say i was upset about my mark might have not been accurate cause I think I was (little bit still am) annoyed about my ranking. I've done 3/4 before like suuuurely I'd be rank 1 but its making me want to study really hard for my next sac which is on 5th June because imma smash it!
It's a bummer that about the one mark, but it was just that, one mark.
I'm sure you'll get 100% next time!!!
Be proud of yourself!
Yeah, 15/16 is fantastic!! Don't worry, everyone makes stupid mistakes sometimes and in the end it will mostly come out in the wash. (Also is it like a part of a sac, like part 1? Because to have a science sac out of 16 marks sounds a little ridiculous. If so, you can totally make it up in the upcoming sacs)Hey CM!!
15/16 is AWESOME! Its annoying that, that one mark dropped you percentage so much but I'm sure you will be able to get 100% on the next SAC!Hey Saraoc!
Do you have any tips for bio? I'm doing 3/4 and I'm averaging 60% :'(
Long time no see but have you tried using the various topic tests and resources on TuteSmart? I was looking at those earlier today and I thought that it might be extremely beneficial for you and your studies :)Hey hey! I'm not with Tutesmart (super pricey) or do they offer resources that I'm not aware of...?
Hi J_Rho!EdUnlimited is very good, I had it for a while but i much prefer hardcopy books or at least being able to print things off (such as topic tests) and I've got some ATARnotes course notes and topic tests that got given to be by older friends so I did cancel my subscription. But I think I am definitely considering getting it again (when I get my job back) especially for the text guides and topic tests! Thanks for the suggestion I lowkey forgot EdUnlimited was a thing!
Yes, I have tried TuteSmart before but I definitely agree -- it's definitely too expensive for me to afford as I paid for my subscription with the job that I currently do not have any more. But I have just tried EdUnlimited and I think it's honestly so much better usability and functionality wise than TuteSmart! It's a lot cheaper too, so maybe you could use the various resources on EdUnlimited (the study guides, practice questions and text guides) to your advantage throughout your studies? It's just a suggestion but it has definitely helped me with my studies :)
Have a great week and kind regards,
Darcy Dillon.
Okay so I just got my Psych result and I just want to cry. Like it probably the subject I care about the LEAST but I made so so so many silly mistakes and I got 82%. :'(Hi J_Rho, this sucks so much (it's a shame your school doesn't have better policies or ways of regulating SACs at home). On a brighter note, 82 is not a bad score at all and you can be content with the fact that you got that score without cheating! As you already know, she'll do a lot worse on the exam and in general, what type of life habit is cheating? It doesn't set you up well for life at all.
Don't worry too much about your sac results girl! Your drive and motivation come out in every post in this journal and I am sure you can still smash it!
With the cheating thing, I totally agree. I had a huge SAC for methods today and my friend texts me at the start of it asking how to do it, I just ignored it lol. And besides, the exams are pretty much the most important thing so cheating won't help for them :)

It's great you've still got an income and you would have made that little boy so happy ;D
Have a great week 8)
Mini Update
I've well and truly fallen off the discipline and productivity bandwagon. I feel swamped with schoolwork and I'm in a constant state of tiredness and on top of that, I've got a cold which meant that I missed my legal sac and slept for 14 hours and then napped most of Friday and today, and I'm still exhausted. going back to school has tbh been great but also shit cause now i feel very stressed and very worn out. Plus I feel horrible I've fallen slack on the Test Your understanding and LA Club threads😭. Iso felt like summer holidays except you HAD to do school work. I have so much to do but no energy to do it. But I might do Chloe Tings 4 Week Summer Shred tho... maybe exercise will help me feel better. And that's the end of my update! Adios :)
Mini UpdateDon't be so hard on yourself! I know that is easier to say than do, but take a breather. The tiredness and the cold aren't helping, and your body can only do so much. Be kind you self and just pace your way through. Have you spoken to the teacher about the legal SAC? Can you retake it?

The test your understand and LA Club is amazing additions to the forums, but your health and VCE come first, you'll have more time to do them as time goes on. I hope you start to feel better soon, and I also hope that you find some energy! Thanks for the mini update .
Hey J_Rho, please don't feel so bad for yourself. I've failed miserably in pursuing my targets this year. But I've come to understand myself more as a learner and how fatuous my fallacies have been (this literally denotes how lost I was or am lol). On a positive note, what you did for the kid's 9 year old birthday was very sweet and must have felt very rewarding in these times we're in. I'm sure he's gonna remember it for a lifetime! :)Thank you for your kind words Geoo and brothanathan! When I read this last week I started crying, your support really means a lot ❤️
Definitely get on that exercise plan, it defs will help you build up some consistently.
Don't give up J Rho! We believe in you! Prove them wrong :D
Update:
I went to Fountain Gate to get some clothes for my 18th party and then went out again to a different place to do grocery shopping and i also got an Instax Mini 11 which i thought would be cute for my party.
I bought two tops cause I couldn't decide which one to get (oop), and now idk what 'colour theme' to go with for the balloons, because idk if emerald and rose gold go together PLUS i have heaps of silver jewellery, so like maybe i go with silver BUT rose gold is very cute colour. My folks have been really good like my mum esp has been like yeah whatever and theres no rules like "dont go in the house" etc which I'm surprised about tbh.
Hey J_Rho!Hey Lex!
Happy Birthday (whenever that may be!...welcome to adulthood!)
That instax will be such a cute idea to get some polaroids for your birthday!
I like the emerald and rose gold idea, have you thought about maybe adding white as well to soften it maybe? Maybe have a look on Pinterest for some inspiration or the look if anyone has done it before.
Hope the party is fun!
- Lex xx
Yo I believe in you! You can get a 90+ and get in Paramedicine at Monash.
Hey J_Rho! ;DOMG THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY ❤️ it means so much especially coming from you! I love reading your journal(OMG it's another update!!)
(I absolutely love the song of the week choices it's SOOOO good! This was the first thing I've listen to this morning and I love it! ;D)
It sounds like there is so much going on in extracurricular wise (Whoop whoop go gets those P's queen! You are like a total inspiration with the amount you do outside of school)
First off, you can 100% get that A+ for English. I absolutely believe in you and can totally understand the feedback problem. Also, 9/10 for a 10 marker in Legal? THAT'S AMAZING!! Further Maths Financial unit can be a killer sometimes. It's hard to get your head around it at first, but once you do it can become really easy. (If you need help gimme a buzz). Also, congrats on doing so well in Bio! That's an achievement on its own and take some time to celebrate :D.
Loving the dream study scores and I completely believe in you that you can achieve them! You are super hard working and just an overall determined person and you can get there :D. Thanks for the update J_Rho and I'm really looking forward to another one in the future💖.
What a steal! That's awesome that you found a such a gem of a car! Do you mind if I ask the colour? It's like that weird beige (also kinda grey) colour...its definitely not an amazing colour but its not horrible! Im actually so happy though because I'm currently not working and I wanted to spend as little as possible, it looks like the planets lined up haha!
So far you have done alot more than me, so that's great that you have been able to get stuff done.
How is SES training? I'd imagine it would be very demanding and quite labor intensive.
Enjoy the rest of your holidays and I hope you get everything you want to get done!
Hey J_Rho, I hope you've been doing well and staying safe!Yo Yo SL!!!
Not sure if this will help, but dodo has mobile plans at $5 a month but with no mobile phone data. I changed from optus to dodo sometime last year but I think they still have some affordable prices: https://www.dodo.com/mobile
A big part of why I wanted a 98+ ATAR was for scholarships for money to help me move out; I can relate with what you're saying here. One thing to keep in mind is that uni accommodation can be very expensive but if you look at sharehousing that's much cheaper. If you can afford it and have never lived out of home before then being on res first year can be good to have that environment to learn living out of home skills and meet people (from what I've heard) but those "calculations" unis show to say that res isn't expensive compared to other accommodation options are trash imo. How expensive res is also differs a lot between unis. I was extremely frugal but when I was first sharehousing my expenses (rent+ food + myki + bills + everything else) were about $1000 a month, you probably want to assume you'll be spending more than that but it doesn't need to be that much more depending on how you are with budgeting. With your family circumstances you might be able to apply for independent youth allowance (there are two paths here, one where you get someone to write a statement supporting that it's unreasonable to live at home and one where you convince one of centrelink's workers that it's unreasonable for you to live at home) which could help. I know the idea of writing out your circumstances could be daunting when you don't know if they'll accept it but it's worth considering applying.hey Bri!
For me in year 12 I had the vibe of feeling trapped and wanting out but imo this stuff is a complicated and weird mix of relief, guilt, anxiety, hope etc. so if you're having mixed feelings (in what they are and how intense they are) that's normal :)
Good luck with everything!
I also got the KFC job and am eligible for JobKeeper again including 2 months of back payments. I really dont want to work at KFC, Id much prefer just to go straight back to the pool when they reopen so I'm not sure if I'm accepting the job offer yet especially that the manager is completely ignoring my availabilities. I said multiple times that im at school and cannot get there until 4pm. He said okay interview at 11am, I emailed him back being like hey i cant do that time i cant get there till 4 and he EMAILED ME BACK SAYING "okay 2:30 pm" like IM SORRY WHAT.
Yay an update! I love your journal so much btw
Ayy first of congrats on getting the job offer! Hopefully, the pool opens for you soon (I'm pretty sure I remember you mentioning your rural or regional so hopefully the restrictions ease there eventually.)
Also, I had the exact same problem with my manager at red rooster, I swear some people have trouble comprehending the fact that we still go to school, stop giving me shifts at 2 pm! ( i eventually quit and moved to KFC and they gave me shifts that a highschool student can work with). Also good purchase on the car, you got it at a great price! :D
Hey J_Rho, I've just finished reading your journal and it was so addictive!
It sucks that not only are we in lockdown, but you also have the dumb weather events happening. I know it seems like there's no point to anything but I just wanted to shout out that you're amazing and that you perspiring and getting back into routine despite not feeling motivated just shows how resilient and special you are! Keep pushing through and I look forward to more updates!!
Hey J_Rho! The emoji is soo cool and CUTE where did you get it from???I literally just googled potato emoji!!! Thank you! I hope you have a productive weekend (i loved reading your journal), your exam plan looks great!
Amazing job in Bio! Getting 82% is not easy as Bio teachers are really good at finding mistakes so be proud :D
That camera technique is amazing! I love these type of camera movements because they make me feel as if I'm there and all hyped up.
All the best for the weekend up ahead, I'm sure you'll finish all your goals ;D
Hey J_Rho!Hey J41!
What do you mean by finalising your notes? Like, just getting things organised, or finishing off the final sections of content etc.? Or both? Or neither? :)
I literally just googled potato emoji!!!AHAHAHA now I sound dumb!
Thank you! I hope you have a productive weekend (i loved reading your journal), your exam plan looks great!Aww thank you, you're so sweet! Your study checklist thread is amazing!
I stumbled onto your journal and read from the beginning... and read... and read... and finished up here. It's fascinating :)Thank you so much for reading! I'm honoured
AHAHAHA now I sound dumb! Not at all, I didnt know it existed till this year!
Aww thank you, you're so sweet! Your study checklist thread is amazing!
Aww, I'm glad you like the study checklist! I have been super unmotivated and i saw that other members were too - hoping its helpful :)
I have a math (Tuesday) and legal (thursday at 8AM WHO THOUGHT OF THAT GREAT IDEA) sac next week at school and we dont love that.HAHAHA good luck! The way schools are organising stuff this year is so annoying
So far it seems to be working because i really really realy would LOVE a new board and I havent been able to justify it because mid price ones are around $900 and I should be saving my money. It's great that you've found your motivation with a handy reward system. It's okay to treat yourself once in a while, you deserve this!
We are travelling super slow, and the class is behind and im just cruising. We only just started AOS2 for u4.That's so weird!
What are your plans for the holidays?Study mostly, plan for the term ahead, do some extra cooking as well!
I was in a car accident and im getting derived scores for all my exams, i dont know how it really works BUT thats not what im asking.Derived scores come from I think a mixture of your SAC marks and mostly the GAT - which is why they DO the GAT. Mainly they come from the GAT. So if you did well in the GAT you'll get good exam scores, I believe. (I know someone who calculated if they'd got a DES for each subject they would've actually done better than they did.)
These are the lowest sac scores i got for these subjects and are lower then my averages but lets assume they my avereages i dont wanna get my hopes up
English: 70%
Maths: 60%
Bio: 90%
Legal: 60%
Psych: 80%
What kind of ballpark study scores could i be looking at and do you think i might be able to get an atar good enough to get me into uni or should i asume the worst and start looking to apply to tafes
pls dont relpy with condolences or whatever, its really quite hard as ive been working towards atar and uni and all of a sudden i cant even hold a cup of tea, let alone get out of bed or write an essay without my muscles spazaming and being in a lot of pain.
i might update my journal with some details later if im not too tired
essentially my tyre blew on a gravel road which was too loose and as its a 100kmph road (i was going 50 max 60) i lost control of the car (stupid front wheel drives, fkn only good for smooth bitumin) and i flipped it twice. nothings broken just lots of pain.

Running the SAC scores through as unit 3, unit 4 and exam, through keltingmeith's study score calculator, you'd get (selecting the middle score in the range):
English - ~34.5
Maths - ~29
Bio - ~42
Legal - ~30.5
Psych - ~38
And running that through the ATAR calculator here on AN, it's giving an ATAR of just over 81, based on last year's data. There's a lot of guesswork in this, obviously, though.
So it looks like you'll be very much fine as far as your ATAR is concerned.
Do you have any idea of your rank and how students in your cohort tend to / are likely to perform?im in the top 3rd of students in most (except legal) my classes, i know the top kids will do super well but there are others that i suspect may struggle to get 50% on the exam
