What're semi-core subjects? I understand UoM has Core + "Extra" (forgot the term) subjects but have never heard of semi-core. Hopefully there'll be some sort of solution to the clash though!
2020-24: Monash Uni MBBS (Bonded)

I don't really go on here anymore. Feel free to DM though

I have no idea about the UCAT percentile required to get an interview/accepted into medicine. Mine was the first year that they used the UCAT. Just try and maximise your ATAR and take care of yourself.

they processed my claim!! as a celebration here's a dire list of things ive learned from six months of university:

- the amount of notebooks you think you need is always smaller than the number of notebooks you really need
- no, really
- this goes for pens + ink too
- do not put tutorials the morning after band nags you to go to pub with them
- learn shorthand for your subject terms Really Quickly
- your number one motivation for passing your subjects is to avoid dealing with stop 1
- make friends with at least 1 nerd in your course it will save your life
- piracy is your friend /jk
- the textbooks are usually great but do not make the mistake of missing a lecture
- legit lecturers are Very Finnicky about which methods they prefer
- if you have two lecturers suss out which one is better at the start of semester (also the university will see the change in views and hopefully hire better lecturers, supply and demand baby)
- talk in tutorials!! even if you're talking into the void you're helping out fellow students and they're more like to warm up to you, even if they're shy
- tell your parents who your lecturers are so you have blackmail against the ones your parents know :) /jk
- but fr find any opportunity you can to talk about your coursework to friends + family
- it will help with memory

yikes thats long

So I've officially met all my lecturers! Fun things that happened this week:

- I got roasted by my dad's mate aka maths prof
- My Swiss prof spent five minutes pointing out to us that Bernoulli was, in fact, Swiss
- My maths prof made an Anna Karenina joke
- My friend somehow got ahold of the link to my maths lectures, emailed my maths prof about it, and he didnt even question it ??
- I drew a cat on the accounting whiteboard, someone added whiskers to it, and i still don't know who they are :((

its week 2 and im already like two lectures behind lmao but at least ive started trying pomodoro
aside from ongoing motivation it has the added benefit of really helping keep track of time - i can log specific data to make sure im on track a lot easier now. i tend to be really time-blind about getting wrapped up in things like tough proofs so its helped a lot
also hacking away at questions more frequently, which i didnt do last semester so much. hopefully it helps in passing a few more subjects this sem
most of my lecturers thankfully seem to be pretty competent so things are going well!!

Yesss. Enjoy the pomodoro life, it rocks.
Also two lectures behind? Surely just 2x speed it. There's always room right?
