Hi bw304
English is my best subject, but that does NOT mean I do heaps of work for it ahaha, so totally see where you are coming from! I procrastinate with english wayy too much too............and also, online learning really got me down too
I hope your coping ok! I find that going outside (even when its cold eh) helps to clear my head and make me feel better, so hopefully youve found some activities to do that make you feel better too!
But anyway heres some ways you can get your head down and bum up for english when it really matters:
- Study buddy! Especially if its someone who enjoys the subject - and if your still at home, do a zoom with them! (however if your an introvert like me just skip to the next point
)
- Change the scenery around you!! Go study outside or something........then next time you have to study for english you'll remember how nice it was outside or whereever you were and feel better about doing it
- Have a clean and clear workspace, and put things you like in/on it......... a nice tablecloth, a candle, some books etc etc
- Leading on from the last point - plants are ALWAYS great no matter who you are!! They're fresh, happy and bright and won't fail to make you feel better!! Pop em on your desk if ya know whats good for ya
- Get enough sleep - realllly important (obviously - dont think you HAVE to have late nights because you absolutely do not)
- Promise yourself a reward for after you've done a certain amount of work!! (if you have really good self control, put it near you so you can actually SEE it and therefore want it more)
- Take everything ONE STEP AT A TIME...........dont overload yourself. Write down small tasks (the more you break them down the better i say!) and then you'll find them more manageble to complete
- Dont be hard on yourself! you might feel bad about yourself and think your lazy for not doing anything, but its not true, and the sooner you see that the happier and better you will feel!
- Do the bigger tasks in the morning and leave the arvo for the easier and less time consuming tasks
So there we go - my tips for beating procrastination!! Hopefully if you can do these things, you'll find your mindset improve heaps too!!
GOOD LUCK!!
