*just note that these methods work for me personally and may not suit everyone

My English exam preparation strategies include:

1. Go over notes and note some of the most prominent ideas/values/themes explored in the texts
2. Create (although i reckon it might be a bit late at this point) and/or print out a quote bank that you can carry around with you
3. Go through at least 5-10 prompts for each text/section or whatever...and make a detailed plan for each (i usually try to do it under timed conditions)
4. Read some of the most important sections of your texts
5. (if you're aiming really high) try to find some of the more obscure quotes to support arguments/ themes to help you stand out
6. The usual practice essays under timed conditions
7. ....and last and near enough the least effective strategy, spend some time trying to calculate your study score

Here was my strategy this time of the year:
Based on essay feedback prioritise my weakest section- which for me was Section A
I would collate as many essay prompts as I could and write essay plans (realising that I can use the same quotes for a variety of essay prompts).
Memorise these essay plans- not word for word but try to get the general idea (don't go word for word- this is stressful and will lead to writing unnatural essays on the exam)
Start writing! Timed writing essays and when I can get feedback. A good habit is to mark your own essays!
Edit your own work- analyse how is your spelling, grammar, punctuation and flow.
-how was the progression of ideas, did you essay come across as confident?
- then show your teacher to recieve their insights
As for Section C (my stongest)
- try to do as many practice essays as you can, I would use articles in the newspaper lol
- timed writing, practice finding techniques quickly from a variety of sources
- develop a confident approach when it comes to analysing technique s
Hope this helps!

Hello there,
I'm in year 11 and just had my VCE English Unit 1 & 2 exams today but last week I did two practice exams/prompts and from last Friday onwards, I mainly tried to memorise the quotes.
I also went over the structure of the 2 types of essays that I did. I found someone else's high standard essay which I annotated just to understand the structure.
I also mainly just planned out in detail for the other prompts and didn't write any essays.
The quotes that I had were short, universal quotes where they would come under numerous themes.
But yeah, that's what I did. Good luck on your year 12 English Exam tomorrow and just try your best!
I hope this helped!
