How can I improve my english ability to do well in VCE

Hey, everyone in the ATAR Notes Forum! I'm currently a year 10 student and I was wondering if anyone at all would be able to give me any advice at all in improving my english ability before I head into VCE english? Also I was hoping someone would be able to give me some tips on how to prepare for SAC's, Exams, Essays, and so forth in VCE. Thankyou

Hi ErnietheBirdi, just call me JR! I'm currently in Year 12. I am so glad that you desire improvement! 

What do you think are your academic strengths? Especially if they are in the Science/Maths sector, as I know that these kinds of students have difficulty with English. Although you're only in Year 10, I would strongly recommend giving this thread a read. This'll hopefully give up the heads up on what you'll be assessed on during Year 12 as well.

Thankyou for replying, I reckon I'm quite strong in Maths, I've never being too good at Science but I am getting better. English really differs not only depending on the task I am doing but the teacher too. I'm just not too sure what to do to help myself improve in the subjects I'm studying.

Read a book per fortnight and write a blog a week from now until 2021.

Any good book suggestions? Any good books that will help with learning and understanding how to use the english language?

What are you interested in?

It’s just the habit of reading that’s going to do it for you. Between now and 2021 you can read an extra 5 million words.

Who cares what it is? That’s going to build your comprehension and develop your literacy skills regardless of what books you’re reading, you know what I mean? Just learn to love the process and forget about the outcome, and years from now, you’ll be much better off.

The Hunger Games is a fun series to start!
