Year 10 intake for Suzanne Cory High School.

Hey everyone,

A month ago I sat the Melbourne High School YEAR 10 Examination, and received my results a couple of weeks ago. I've just recently discovered this community and was wondering if you all could provide me with some useful information regarding the Year 10 enrolment process for Suzanne Cory High School. The results I received via a letter were very discouraging because I really thought I was going to do fairly decent but turned out that I was rejected.

I also applied for Suzanne Cory High School as a back-up plan if I wasn't successful into becoming a student at MHS. Anyway, I'll get to the point that I wanted to make, how many students will be enrolled into Year 10 @ Suzanne Cory High School and what is the minimal admission result/score to enter? e.g (6 for a Superior, 5 for an Above Average, 4 for a High Average, 3 for an Average and so on) There are six components and the maximum score is 36/36 (six superiors, what will be the minimum required?)

My results were as follows:
Numerical Reasoning - Superior
Creative Writing - Above Average
Mathematics - High Average
Verbal Reasoning - High Average
Persuasive Writing - High Average
Reading Comprehension - High Average

(Numerical Reasoning and the Verbal Reasoning components are considered tests of 'potential' and Mathematics, Persuasive Writing, Creative Writing and Reading Comprehension are considered tests of 'achievement.' I received four high averages and I felt excruciating pain and suffered depression for a short period but it will not be the end of the world if I do not make it in.

Will my results be enough to be offered a place? Honest thoughts/opinions please.

I greatly appreciate those who contribute to this thread, thank you.

Thats more than enough to get in,
But I guess you have to wait now until next year to find any vacancies, by now, it looks like no Year 9 is going to leave, but you have to still hope, because some leave for JMSS

Thank you for your replies guys, greatly appreciated.

By any chance, do any of you know if Suzanne Cory High School will have a new Year 10 Class? Considering Melbourne High School will, I want to know if it's the de
deal for SCHS.

not sure if it is similar but Nossal High School only accepted 2 people for year 10 entry but more will be accepted depending on students who leave for various reasons. Since they are both small schools, I doubt a new class would be made. However, good luck!  :D

If you have gotten at least 4 above instead of those highs, you would of gotten in easy!

I dont see a new class appearing out of the blue, they can only have a maximum cohort of 800
which each year level cohort being 200 students

Yeah, I guess. It was my first time sitting an actual selective school examination. I should've put in a bit more effort into my studies, oh well. By the way, do you know if my results will differentiate? As in, will my results get boosted or reduced to those people who sat the Suzanne Cory examination or will it be based on my results from Melbourne High School.

Cool, I received a letter today stating that I would be proceeding through into the second stage of the process. Same deal for MHS Year 10, I have to write a written application, list my academic and co-curricular achievements and so on. Thank you guys for your useful information and support, greatly appreciated.
