Honestly I can't remember a worse game from any of Gawn, Viney or Jones. Viney reminded me of post-foot Trengove.
I didn't see much of or pay too much attention to Viney but looking at the stats, he did not have much impact at all. Gawn was run ragged by Lycett and Ryder who nullified any influence he might have had. Hopefully we will play Preuss when we're up against two rucks as Gawn needs the support in that situation. Jones' game was summed up by that dropped mark in the 4th.

The wild round continues with GWS thumping Essendon. Would have liked to have seen Gold Coast win but St Kilda were able to just hold on in the end.

Edit: Have just seen the score for Freo v North, wtf @Aaron

mama mia.

~only round 1/team gelling together/any other remotely feasible excuse I can think of to support an atrocious performance lol~

In all seriousness though, very sad to see Ed V-W go down again. Poor kid can't catch a break. If ACL, would just give it up tbh. He's a very smart individual academically speaking, so reckon he can make it in another field.

Glad I was away with this weekend and didn't catch much of the footy. Holy shit.

Tipping was dreadful this week obviously. A lot of surprises out of the blocks. With that said, I guess that's what makes for a good season, this level of unpredictability. How poorly some teams have started though and the seeming lack of quality out of the first week is a bit odd.

Terrible news about Alex Rance. Watching it happen I was surprised he did his ACL with that mechanism. A lot of people really hate Alex Rance, but his comments after the game were incredibly brave and showed a great deal of leadership if anything. More than his skill, I think that leadership is what we'll miss on ground.

I don't get the hate for Rance at all. People bemoan that players are robotic and all the same etc., but as soon as anybody has a different type of personality, they get shot down straight away.

I like him, and I like watching him play. Was saddened by his injury.

Looks like Jay Lockhart is going to debut some 15 days after signing with Melbourne. Surely one of the quicker debuts in recent memory.

He's been on Melbourne's radar for a long time though, been with Casey the last few years as a frequent performer.

Yep, makes you wonder why we didn't at least rookie him initially though.

MFCSS in effect tonight. It's quite ridiculous how we can get 72 to 48 inside 50s and lose by 80.
